This is a cost-effective vent cover for your bathroom fan. It comes with a metal mesh screen which is critical for keeping birds from using the vent tube for a nest. I like that the mesh is fine, which can also deter smaller stuff like bugs and baby snakes from getting into the house. However, that fine mesh is not a good choice if you are looking to cover a dryer vent. It will inevitably clog with lint from your dryer. The instructions recommend removing the metal mesh if you want to use it with a dryer. And if you take the mesh out, then you just have a cheap plastic cover. So keep looking if you need this for your dryer vent but it is a good, cost effective choice for a bath vent. ... show more

    • Easy to install and good value but not perfect

My old dryer vent cover had plastic flappy slats that would open up when the dryer was actively blowing out air. All the flappy slats fell out and yep, a bird decided to make a nest in the vent opening. Time for a new vent cover. The plastic of this cover is fairly thick and has a sturdy 3D printed feel to it. It feels durable but only time will tell. It was easy to install and fit right over the old opening. I'm pretty sure it mentions it in the description but the mesh is really fine and clogs pretty quickly. It needs to be cleaned after every 3 or 4 loads or it will impact the drying. I'm not sure I like how fine the mesh filter is and I may replace it with something that allows more airflow so I don't have to clean it as often. This leads me to the one issue I've got with the design. Given how often the lint screen needs to be cleaned, I think a tabbed door would have been a better choice here. The door holding the screen in place has an opening that requires you to insert something like a screwdriver to pry open the door. It's not a deal breaker but it is an annoyance and it would make cleaning the filter that much easier if I didn't have to bring a screwdriver with me every time. And for those of you thinking that a key would work, yes, it probably would but I don't usually keep keys on me either. Anyhow, for an inexpensive vent cover, this does the trick. ... show more

    • Great Option for Soffit Vent that's Pest Proof

This vent is a great option for a soffit vent that is pest proof due to the tighter louvre layout and mesh screen behind. We had an addition built on to our home (by previous owner) who unwisely let the contrator jsut leave the dryer & bathroom fan exhaust ducts sitting on the soffit with no real vent. Made me cringe when we moved in and realized all that hot and humid air was getting trapped in the ceiling of our breezeway. Anyways, very easy to install and love that the louvred panel drops out pretty easily with a flathead screwdriver for easy cleaning and inspection. Just pull your exhaust duct through the soffit, wrap with HVAC tape (therrmally rated) and screw into soffit. Most soffit vents either have "self-closing" louvres which in an inverted oriuentation would just remain open letting bugs and other pests build a nice home in your duct-work. Only reason I have a 4/5 stars is the plastic quality was not particularly robust and the included screws were pretty short and not capable of proper embedment into any kind of woof framing. I'd image if you popped this with a hammer it would crack quickly. So would not recommend installing at knee-level or below if you run a weed-eater or mower around the perimeter of your home. ... show more

Easy to install and has bug screen. I wonder how long the outside plastic vent cover will last. Doesn't seem to be the best design for reattachment after cleaning so eventually will not stay on...?
