Quality, detailed product of mfg wood material. Three adults and about 15 hours of casual effort, we had a very fun, nice piece. Recommend using super glue with a brush, like for fake finger nails. Also, a tiny exact blade to cut the very small nibs still holding items fast on the Laser cut boards. Regular Elmer's is preferred on paper items. Also, we superglue tiny lights and cords, rather than using the direction Recommend tape. We angled the desk and made a few other careful tweaks, making certain that we didn't infere with future directions. Excellent overall design. I'm concerned that other models and companies will not live up to this model. 5 out of 5! ... show more

This product is great, challenging, detailed, takes time and patience. This is a great project for a beginner crafter. The directions are detailed and the parts are numbered and well organized on sheets that. We will be purchasing and building more of these cute book nooks! I would make sure to have your own glue and craft tools before taking it on, but we managed to get through with what I had on hand. ... show more

Don’t underestimate how long this will take to put together. It’s very tedious, which I’m not saying as a bad thing. Just know you’re not getting this done on a Saturday afternoon. I worked on mine 1-2 hours at a time over three months. Not all of the big pieces are going to fit together perfectly. You’ll have to use a knife or sandpaper to get some things to fit correctly. It’s not perfect but the end result is pretty cool. NOTE: This does not come with glue or sandpaper. You will get a tiny 1” long nail file type of “sandpaper” and that’s it. The media could not be loaded. I absolutely LOVED doing this little project. Took me two days (about 6-7 hours each). I’m very detailed, so I was very careful gluing my pieces together. A bit of a perfectionist too because I wanted it to look exactly like the one in the box :) Overall, I give this 4.7 out of 5. Why? It does not include glue. Some pieces are very hard to take out (just a few). The tape to hold the wires does not stick as much, so I ended up gluing the wires too. There’s a small hole in the back where a ‘music movement piece’ was supposed to be install but it says ‘purchase separately’ (page 12- step 2). That would’ve been awesome to add. I look forward to making a few of these more. I think this is a great activity to do with teens. Teaches them patience, attention to details, self control, and much more. And let’s face it, looks so cute next to books. ^_^. ... show more

I got this for a present and assembled it, and I have to say for the price, there are way better products on Amazon for Bookends, so keep looking. Here are the reasons why: 1) Nothing is friction fit. Everything has to be glued. They dont include the glue (mentioned on the product), so keep that in mind. Other products of this price point include everything. 2) Due to the thickness of the material, small sections where the part is connected to the sprue can come off. Happened multiple times during assembly. 3) Strange Factory smell that is almost nauseating. 4) Light system is rudimentary at best (gotta glue bulbs to the wood). Accessing the light button is non intuitive because it is in the rear. 5) Paper portions that you have to cut out have a very saturated and faded color. Overall, a decent product but wasnt the most pleasant experience to put together. ... show more

Addicting! As soon as it arrived and I started working on it. It was so hard to stop! The build is easy and hard. Some parts are just annoying to put together and some are a pain in the butt. I wish I would have paid more attention to the alignment of certain pieces befor I glued them together. The railings across the second floor were a little wonky. I didn't do a very good job installing the internal walls so the lid didn't sit down. I did some major renovations with my dremmel and sandpaper to make it fir. The friend I gave it to, wanted to be able to look inside from the top,and have access in case of problems so I ultimately I didnt glue it down , but it fits nicely.
