I have a month to two months to go before my current filter is ready to be tossed. What I can say is it was shipped right away. I ordered it on a Saturday and received it the next Tuesday. Going back 20-30 years, one morning I noticed an oil slick on top of the water in the coffee pot. Then another morning I filled it and the water looked like diluted milk. That's when I got my first whole house filter. Then I added another whole house filter under my kitchen sink. Finally I added a filter on the end of the faucet because they remove lead. The others just removed sediment and had a carbon sleeve for taste. Replacing these every three months gets expensive. The first filter may need replacing more often when the city screws around with the pump a few blocks away. The city tells me they use a food safe grease on their pumps but I still don't want to drink it. When I change the first filter in the basement there is some really disgusting stuff in it. I got this filter, FK99, to replace the one under the sink and the faucet filter. It should pay for itself in the first year with savings from not having to buy those other filters. Looking forward to using it and will update. One more thing, I tried to get the filter apart just to see how hard it was and like all the reviews I read it was real hard. I gave up as there was no real need. My suggestion would be a wrench that fit the bottom indents on the filter case or because it is so large in diameter some facets around the top or bottom so you can get a grip on it would be a big help. I don't really want to use a strap wrench because it could damage it over time. ... show more

I purchased this water filter at the same time as the GIMILI Kitchen Faucet with Pull Down Sprayer available here. I was tired of funny smelling, weird tasting water. I bought a filter pitcher that really didn't do much for the taste. I read the reverse osmosis systems were better at removing things like PFAs. So I decided to look for one. There were many options in the $300 range. They may be better. I don't know. But that was over my budget. So I opted for this one. My handyman told me it was easy to install by just connecting it to the cold water line. It paired perfectly with the faucet I was also installing and it didn't impact the water pressure. Before using it for the first time, I let the water run for a few minutes. Then I gave it a try. There was no funny smell and the water actually tasted great, even better than bottled water. I'm a fan of Diet Coke. But I know I should drink less of that and more water. Since installing this filer, I've increased my water intake and decreased my soda consumption. I have water that's perfectly fine to drink, but it has a smell and flavor to it that made me prefer bottled water. I was looking into getting a water cooler, but then I learned of the health risks of stagnant water if it's not finished soon enough. Then I looked at reverse osmosis, but read about the health issues associated with lack of minerals in your drinking water. Sure, there are additions that add minerals back in, but that just increases the cost of the system and its replacement filters. All I wanted was a cheap, simple system to make my water taste better, so I gave this a try. After installing this I have no leaks, my tap water tastes great and has no smell, so for that part I have no complaints. What I would suggest to the manufacturer, however, is that they include both the inlet and outlet hoses rather than what they include now (just in the inlet hose). My existing water line to my faucet was too short (as I expect is the case for most people) because when I bought it I just got one long enough to reach from the faucet to the valve. When installing this, you will need a longer hose to be able to reach the faucet and I wish they would just include another hose of the same length as the one they already come with to avoid having to make a trip to the hardware store. But aside from that, this is a great product and I have no doubt I'll keep using it with refills for the rest of my life. ... show more
