  • Great tool for the adventurous guitar owner
This is a great tool if you want to take your guitar "tech" skills to the next level. Like any guitar repair skill it takes a bit of time to learn to do it with confidence. My first attempt I went a bit too low for my liking, but the guitar still plays like a champ. Of course, the crowning tool is a must when you buy the leveler. Overall it's a great product but it's a bit tough to remove the old sandpaper adhesive. It leaves a lot of "sticky" behind and you'll need some kind of cleaner product to completely remove it from the bar in order to regain the smooth surface, which is essential for proper leveling. A very simple, flat tool, but excellently made. ... show more

  • High quality product and excellent service

I'd been using a cheap level to do fret levels on my guitars but have wanted a FretGuru for a while. I finally decided to pull the trigger and I'm glad that I did. You can tell the instant you pick up this tool that it's high quality and well worth the price. The owner of the company even responds to emails personally! A welcome difference from most companies you deal with these days. ... show more

  • FretGuru yeah!
Color: 16"
I’m extremely pleased with my purchase. The quality of the FretGuru is top notch. Made in the USA! It comes with 3 different grit sand paper strips. They also sell additional strips here on Amazon, which I purchased as well. Kudos to Bernie and his team for making a superb product!

  • This is good, very good!
Color: 10"
I have no "cons" about this precision Instrument. "Precision Instrument" you may well ask.... I'll tell you. There is not much more required in a guitar than accurate flat (that is the tops of) fret board. I'm not joking except maybe the overall tone of the guitar - and even the tone is affected by the frets. When you buy lutherie tools you must try and get the best and there are probably not more than ten such companies catering to Professionals in the World; this comes from one of them, perhaps the smallest. Family company, everything handbuilt in the USA. And in my package I also received three useful notes from Bernie, the "CEO" of this family company. Buy USA and get the best from FretGuru! I have no affiliation with FretGuru except for being a customer. ... show more

  • In Love
Color: 16"
I’m very happy with this product! Upon opening the package you can tell right away this is well-made. I don’t have any precision equipment to check how straight it is but I’ll trust the other reviews that say it is. I’ve done two fret-level jobs so far with it and both have gone very well. I have to admit it's really rewarding to feel your guitar go from choking on bends to endless sustain! I’m extremely new to guitar teching and this product helps you fall in love with the work. ... show more

  • This is the one.
It was my first time doing fret work and I wanted a sanding beam that went the full length of the neck so I could sand the frets perpendicular to the fret board. This made certain I could maintain the radius of the fret board. Slower? Yes, but this kind of work should not be done in a hurry. I cut the extra length off with my cross cut sled and standard wood working blade on my tablesaw which gave me a short length to taper the higher frets. So in a way I got two quality tools for one and it was priced better than the competition. The tool is perfectly flat (contrary to that picture on a table with chunks knocked out it which cannot be a machinist's reference table-knocking a chunk out of the flattest table in the shop is a sure way to get kicked out of the shop). ... show more
