Description

Issued in September 2018, the Birds in Winter Forever stamps highlight the handsome plumage of resident birds often spotted throughout the winter, The stamp art features four of winter‘s winged beauties: The black-capped chickadee (Poecile atricapillus), The northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis), The blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata), and The red-bellied woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus). The stamp art features four striking designs. The vivid contrast with the bright flashes of color found in the digital rendering of each bird evokes the drab feeling of winter with the stark white backgrounds. A limited palette and simplified shapes give the art a bold, fresh look. In the dead of winter, when trees have shed their leaves and snow has blanketed the ground, the lively sights and sounds of resident birds can be a welcome relief. For serious birders or casual nature lovers alike, spotting these beautiful creatures in backyards, parks, and forests is a treat during the year’s coldest months. Art director Antonio Alcalá designed the stamps with original artwork by Nadia Taylor. The Birds in Winter stamps are being issued as Forever stamps in booklets of 20. These Forever stamps will always be equal in value to the current First-Class Mail one-ounce price.

  • I love these stamps!!
Size: 1 Booklet of 20
I love these stamps!! I wish USPS still sold them. They may be more expensive, but I am glad I can still find these online and I sure hope they don't run out anytime soon. My favorite one of them is the chickadee. I love writing and sending mail and I enjoy using these stamps.

  • took nearly FOREVER for these to arrice
Size: 1 Booklet of 20
I love forever stamps. I don't mail a lot, and I don't have a clue as to how much postage is from year to year. I'll buy a sheet of these and know that they are good whenever I get around to using them. I usually only buy these for Christmas Cards, so I get Christmas and Winter themes. This year, however, I bought them on Thanksgiving (US) weekend, but they didn't get here until Dec 21st. I had to hand-deliver some cards when I wasn't sure when these would get there. ... show more

  • Overpriced
Size: 1 Booklet of 20
The stamps are 5 stars, and the price is 1 star. But I'm a bird lover. First bought these from post office years ago for 40 some odd cents apiece. But they were discontinued. I knew that these were overpriced, but I just wanted them anyways and was willing to spend the extra. Still use them for mailing letters. ... show more
