Description

The FLIR Scion® OTM captures clear thermal imaging and leverages a refined user interface to quickly detect objects of interest in complete darkness and through glaring light or haze. Built around FLIR’s powerful Boson core, the Scion OTM produces 9 or 60 Hz thermal imaging and records geotagged video and still images for playback long after the day is done. A rugged, IP67-rated housing and intuitive controls allow single-hand operation in harsh weather conditions, maintaining reliable thermal imaging in the most demanding outdoor environments. This thermal imaging product has a frame rate greater than 9Hz and is regulated by the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) under ECCN 6A003.b.4.b. and requires DOC authorization prior to shipment to all destinations other than the United States and Canada.

I was pretty upset when I first received this and it was working on the software version from the factory. I really wanted to use the Host WiFi mode but it only had some TruWitness garbage. Then I had stumbled upon the latest user manual that had different UI. This was the sign I needed. I instantly went to the FLIR support website to download the latest firmware. Once you apply the latest firmware update this thing is golden. Now I can stream to my phone with ~2-3s latency. If you try over your home WiFi you will find that it is complete garbage (do not recommend). Once you've been through the menu it becomes quick to get it up and running. I just wish I could default to having the host mode on when I power on the device. Save a few seconds of time to get the stream running. I also wish I could just plug it into a device and stream the video. An HDMI out would have been pretty killer. Also, the rechargeable battery pack is a must. I recommend keeping the standard battery pack loaded up in the case when out in the field for the extra 4-6h you may be able to get. ... show more

Seller adorama shipped to me a unit with batteries that where already installed in the compartment. The unit was showing dead battery and worked for about 2-3 mins before it powered off. During the short time of testing the screen was freezing. I have batteries on order and will test again and I have sent a message to the seller. Let’s see what the outcome is. I will update review as necessary. For such a high dollar item I would think a fresh pair of batteries and an unused item is in order. ... show more

The 60Hz model performs much better than the 9Hz. There is still occasional stuttering but this package is really powerful thermal lens and excellent tool to have for hunting.

Works great can see 50 yards no problem, I would have given five stars but there a few improvements needed. The unit itself is great but It would be nice if there was an attachment for a lanyard. The carry case is also very sturdy but the flap catch could be better as it is only a hook
