These cork tiles were exactly what I had hoped they would be. I would buy them again in a heartbeat. Yes,they are a little porous and you can see through some small holes if you hold them up to sunlight (see pics) but once they are on the wall - mine was a white wall - you can't see any holes. Yes, they have a slight smokey smell. Yes, being only 3/8" thick and made of cork they will break if you're careless - I wasn't careless and I didn't break any. Yes, they are a little powdery but really nothing of concern (see pics). As for the adhesive, meh, they could do better. The double sided sticky squares seem adequate (maybe) if you aren't planning on using them as a bulletin board with push pins. I had some construction adhesive laying around so I added some of that (see pics). ... show more

I wanted these to make a command center to post my kid’s school schedule, lunch menu, online class info, art work, etc. The dark color is what caught my attention since I was going to stick them to our cherry cabinet and thought it would blend in well with our decor. 1. These stink like a campfire. Frankly, they were probably put into a smoker to get the dark/charred color. 2. Crumbs EVERYWHERE when you touch it or brush up against it. 3. There are large gaps between some of the pieces of cork that have been compressed together to make this. For some tiles, the gap goes all the way through and it’s like Swiss cheese. Will have to watch where I stick pins. Because it’s like particle board, I think it is less sturdy than your typical oak colored framed cork boards. Chunks were flaking off as I was hanging them. 4. I hung these with command strips. It came with adhesive patches, but there is no indication in the Amazon description and no directions in the packaging as to whether or not these would ruin my cabinets or walls or is the adhesive is removable. 5. The tiles are 3/8 inch thick. One part of the amazon description says 3/8, another says 1/2 inch. Bottom line, looks nice, will serve its purpose, but it could be better. ... show more

    • Looks good but handle with care

These are a nice thickness and looked good on my finished project, however - handle them carefully. I had to trim them down to fit - they will crumble if you just go at them with a knife or scissors. However, working with a heavy straight edge and a very sharp knife and making several passes to make the cut, I did get clean edges. Also, they do have a smoky smell, I did not find it unpleasant there at work, but I probably would not want the smell in my house. I did not try the included adhesive and instead used two sided duck tape for a beefier contact. ... show more

Very thick. Nice. I got more than four+/-. They are nice. Beware of multiple listings. I cannot tell you which dark brown I got. But also have ordered the thin natural one four pack maybe eight times, nice. Natural ones are quality so far and not too thin in my opinion. But maybe put in a frame with a little cardboard behind the cork natural color. ... show more

    • Why do these perfect squares SMELL?

Wow these smell. Like gasoline & tires. They are perfect color, size for what I wanted although definitely delicate/flimsy/thin (if you’re expecting sturdy cork board, move on). As I am using them in junky old room, I just nailed them to wall-didn’t even try adhesive. I did cut a few to fit weird spaces; probably should have used something better than regular scissors, b/c jagged edges resulted. I ordered too many & would return 1 box BUT already opened the 4-packs to try to air out the noxious odor... the boxes they shipped in were super sturdy (better than regular Amazon boxes...maybe to hide the odor?!?!) ... show more
