Built to hold heavy loads with a low level install. Mounting higher isn't safe or practical given challenge of lifting heavy weight above your shoulders or on a ladder. I mounted mine at 72 inches so not to hit your head walking under or near by, brackets are 2 foot wide. Looks real spacious for bulky items I intend to store that get seasonal use. For my install I didn't use top lag bolt, overkill for my needs. Be careful following install directions as garage studs vary never consistently 24 inches on center. So there will likely be a gap where 3 foot grates meet. Grate locking design is a great idea but not enough holding material at the notch to truly lock in. Velcro straps? That is unique concept associated with metal shelving. However, once I fanagaled at key locations, remarkably strong holding parts together. Have zip ties on hand as those work well aligning grates in the middle. The product is well made with plenty to anchor to the studs.     • Good idea, but not a good execution

The package arrived promptly. Everything was very well packaged, but the template. The template had some bumps and creases in it, making the bottom mark higher than it should be. I noticed and double checked it before starting the installation, so I marked the holes correctly. No issues for me there. However, I noticed the support arms are flexible instead of rigid. I'd love if it had thicker rigid arms. The wire shelves do not stay in place, and the velcro helps, but there is still movement sideways (remember the flexible arms?). It is very hard to make both shelves (1x3 feet) match together. I think having a one piece of 2x3 would be easier and better. What I find good is the price (I paid $133 + tax), the package and the quality of the paint. I'd never put 400lbs on those shelves, not with that movement sideways. Since I want them for clearing the cluster in the garage, and most of the boxes are not heavy, I believe they should be all right. Thanks ... show more

I recently purchased and installed shelves in my garage, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. These shelves have greatly improved the organization and functionality of my garage space. First and foremost, these shelves were extremely easy to install. Even as someone with little handyman experience, I found the installation process straightforward and hassle-free. The impact on the organization of my garage has been remarkable. Prior to installing these shelves, my garage was cluttered and chaotic, making it difficult to find and access the items I needed. These shelves are sturdy and easy to install. Not totally sure on the per shelf load tolerance. My double pack box (a total of 4 3-ft. shelves) said 400 lbs per container. Presumably, the converts to simple math of 100 lbs per 3-ft. section. The lag bolts appear adequately sized. One improvement suggestion would be for the shelves to be slightly wider such that they would touch in between the 16” gap of the end of one shelf bracket to the beginning of the next shelf bracket. They extend only about an inch on either side so there’s about 14” of missing storage space. Plus, it would be better aesthetics to not have the gaps. Installation tip: An impact wrench is almost a must. I used a ratchet, for feel, on the final tighten down rotation but would not have wanted to put 48 lag bolts into studs by hand. Some say they used something else for securing the shelves to the brackets besides the provided Velcro straps, but I found the straps to work nicely. One tip there: put both left and right straps but pull them tight at the same time. Otherwise, if you do them individually, the shelf will shift to that side and not sit even laterally in the brackets. The hole marking template made that part of the process much easier. However, 16” markings on mine were about 1/16” too narrow. Not a big deal for one or two linear iterations, but if you’re doing several, it adds up to being off the stud down the line. ... show more

    • Quality shelving unit with one major flaw, great customer service

These are quality shelves. They look great and are very sturdy. They're easy to install. Some people complain about the velcro straps, but they seem fine to me. Here's the major problem. You can't install the 3' sections next to each other. They pictures show two 3 foot sections next to each other, but it's not possible. Studs are normally spaced 16". The distance between the 2 outermost studs of 4 consecutive studs is 48". The total shelving width is 72". There's way too much overhang on the outside. You need skip a stud which leaves a gap between the shelves. They should have made these shelves each 32" wide, not 36", the knuckleheads. I had to buy a separate shelf just for the extra mounting bracket. Very expensive and wasteful :-( I contacted their customer service and the service was excellent. ... show more

I installed them in the corner of my garage. Included in the package was all the hardware, template, and a level to install the shelves. The shelves are secured to the brackets with real good velcro straps. The shelves do lock into place, the velcro keeps them secure when loading and unloading the shelves.
