  • Decent diarama if you catch it on sale
I was able to acquire this diarama while it was 40% off. I would say that this kit is best for someone who is already experienced with creating miniatures because the materials you are given are cutting it close and there are times where you may need to improvise an alternate solution. The kit is cute overall! I'm about 3/4 of the way completed, with the couch and tree decoration left to do before finally hooking up the lights. Will include the complete photo but for now have some in-progress ones! PROS: - Comes with a full kit of utensils; the only thing it's missing is batteries and glue (understandably). - It does give you extra wood squares in case you end up wanting to make another couch cushion. - A good mixture of paper, wood, and plastic decorations. - The wood is decent quality and already cut out for you; no breaking pieces out of molds and hoping for no splinters! - The tiny decorations for the tree are actually very cute. CONS: - You're cutting it very close with some of the materials given. Just barely enough wire, missing wood piece(s) for the couch (luckily it is the same thickness as cardboard and will be completely covered in cloth, so I simply cut out a piece and used it as a replacement for the missing wood square), etc. - The type of dried plant you are given is not made to be glued and bent around a wire. You may have to get creative with the creation of the holiday wreath above the fireplace unless you want to struggle with that plant material. In my case I used green fruit tootsie roll wrappers. - Most kits come with extras of the paper decorations as they're extremely easy to create a duplicate of; you don't get paper extras except for 2 teeny tiny cutouts. You do, however, have a decent amount of the red and white cloth in case you want to make some felt designs or something. - The wires for the lights are all the same length but the different areas they're being used around the diarama means some of those wires are being stretched quite far. You may have to (gently) wrestle with them. - One of the provided lights did not work. Fortunately they give you two for the tree and it looks just as good only using 1. - The kit has no way to hide the battery box in the back. Create your own battery holder. ... show more

  • Bought two!
I bought two of these to put together and added a door in the middle. I’m making a Christmas doll house for my friend who loves Christmas year round. I plan to buy more of these houses but not the Christmas ones, and make the bedroom and kitchen and decorate it with a Christmas theme so I have an entire Christmas doll house. I used hot glue (out of frustration) and Gorilla wood glue, the hot glue was because the sides were giving me problems joining together, maybe because I am disabled and have one working hand, or maybe I frustrate easily; but the hot glue was great to pin it in place while the wood glue dried, then I easily removed the hot glue dots and it held up beautifully! The furniture and other items were easy and fun; very meditative to do it! The wallpaper is pretty much paper, so when I glued it down it bubbled, even though I followed the directions and made a thin layer and let it dry a bit before placing the paper. I would suggest painting it or getting a sample wallpaper in a Christmas color and use actual wallpaper. I love the music box it came with! Any other easy installation. Because I bought two, I didn’t need a second coffee table, so I placed it sideways and added shelves to make it into a bookcase. The plates are just paper, so let your imagination run and cut out a plastic water bottle and glue the paper plate to it for more durability and weight (if you don’t use the enclosed dust cover, a breeze will blow over the plates). I then purchased a Heidi Ott doll, and cut the armatures and sewed her up to make her four inches tall, she sits beautifully on the couch and the house is a good fit for her four inches. If you want to have a meditative and fun project then go ahead and buy this! It’s a great gift idea whether it’s assembled by you, or if you let the gift recipient assemble it. It’s one of those things you didn’t know how much you wanted until you got one kind of gift. I love mine and wish I had bought one sooner! ... show more

  • Christmas small room
The media could not be loaded. This was really fun to make, the only thing is that the instructions are not good and the tool sucks I had to use took from my cricket machine tools. I also change something things because I could cut all the little pieces way to hard

  • Didn't like this room kit
Call me picky, but the kits labeled DIY just seem like better quality. I think this kit is manufactured by the same people... the instructions and all look similar, but the Christmas room with the little dog in it is better, in my opinion. Bot

  • Patience pays off!
In the middle of making my 8th mini diy kit and I think I’m addicted! I have chronic foot pain and working on these little gems takes my mind off my feet! I am slowly learning to add my own touches. I’m making these Christmas rooms for each of our 3 children, putting as many kids’ pictures in as possible (in little frames of course). Having a Sprocket helps to get the photos the appropriate size. You have to be patient and creative as you go along. The end result is so satisfying. Didn’t like the sofa fabric so used some gold velvetine instead. The rug is cute but I cut mine as big as the material would allow. Also replaced tree. These aren’t complaints, I just enjoyed being creative and adding my personal touch. I got a lot of good ideas reading the reviews as well. I like the dust cover too. Any other kits I buy must have one. After completion: I decreased 5 stars to 4. After finishing, I realized the wires and battery pack were just hanging loose, so I made my own holder and glued it on, taping the wires down; not pretty, but gets the job done. The dust cover was a challenge as well. I tried many glues and finally settled on using Weld-on 3 using a very fine brush to join plexiglass. DO NOT use super glue or krazy glue as it will get foggy (as I found out with other covers). I studied many UTube videos and found none that explained best way to join any dust covers. I still love the way this kit turned out and am still learning this can be a serious art and not just a weekend project! ... show more
