  • Look good
Color: White/Black Size: 13
I think these shoes look great, but aren't very comfortable because for the rubber piece at the very top of the shoe entrance. It's has broken in to be a little better since initial purchase though.

  • World Class Shoe
Color: Black/Black Size: 11
Okay, these shoes may not be quite “World Class”, but they are certainly a way better performing shoe than what most of us would ever need. My previous cycling shoe was a mid-range pair of Bontragers with a full carbon sole and combination ratcheting and Velcro straps. The Fizik R3 Aria shoes are true to size, with exceptionally stiff, full carbon soles. My feet and shins were a bit sore after my first few 30+ mile rides, but I quickly adapted to the added stiffness and find the shoes extremely comfortable even on longer rides. I am generating a bit more wattage with these shoes, which is well worth the $200 price of admission. The BOA closure system is excellent, with a full-range of incremental adjustment for both the bottom and top closures. It is very easy to find the perfect combination of top and bottom tightness to ensure the most comfortable, secure fit. The closures are easy to loosen or tighten even while in the saddle. This is an incredibly helpful feature when your feet swell during long summer rides and the shoes need a bit of loosening. The stiffness, build quality, ventilation, and styling are those of road shoes that easily cost $100 more than the current price of the R3s. I have pedaled around 600 miles since purchasing these shoes and would absolutely buy them again. The leather is of excellent quality. It is difficult to tell from the picture, but part of the closure and the inside of the shoe are patent leather. The patent leather is a bit softer than the rest of the shoe and might prove to have durability issues over the long term. The patient letter on the inner part of the shoe are already showing some signs of wear. ... show more

  • Great shoe but they send wrong size
Color: White/Black Size: 13
I love the feel and look of these, but they don’t send the size that you order. I ordered a size 13 which according to Fizik’s size chart, the label on the box and the label in the shoe is a size 47. They have now sent me the wrong size 3 times! Very frustrating!!!

  • Sizing accurate (just), but not comfortable
Color: Black/Red Size: 11.5
I returned these shoes before riding in them, or attaching cleats. Length in size 45 was correct for my usually 11 1/2 sized feet which measure exactly 290 mm (size 45.5 and 46 in Shimano and Giro cycling shoes, respectively, and 46 in an ASICS running shoe). But there was no room to spare lengthwise and socks thicker than summer weight might have been a problem. I have narrow feet and at first, with my limited testing, they seemed like they would generally work in that regard, but if the material stretched at all then maybe not. At best fit the top flap long edge was almost touching a lengthwise ridge on the lower flap that would have stopped, or at least obstructed, further tightening. I had several comfort problems with them: 1) They don't have a tongue, just an outer flap that is tightened by the Boas over an under one, and the top of the foot. All my other cycling shoes have a padded tongue but there is no padding on either flap and the rest of the upper material isn't as soft or pliable as my Shimano or Giro shoes. As a result they have a very spartan feel on the foot 2) The two Boa adjustments don't provide as customizable a fit as three straps/buckles do. The lower Boa, which takes the place of two forward/bottom straps, didn't balance the forefoot and midfoot pressure correctly for me. If the fit around the toe and ball of the foot was correctly snug the fit around the midfoot was a bit loose, and vice-versa. Adjustment of the upper Boa didn't fix this. Two independant lower straps are definitely better for my feet. 3) The shoes come with only a very basic insole and no arch support alternatives. My Giros had two different insoles and three arch support options supplied (and a travel bag). The R3's supplied insole may be optimized for weight but it, like the uppers, has a hard, spartan feel to it. 4) As some other reviewers have noted the rear edge of the top flap is hard and was uncomfortable against the top of my foot when it moved through a pedaling like motion. It may soften over time, as may the rest of the shoe, but with the prospect that it wouldn't this shoe didn't work for me. Otherwise quality was high. You should try these on before buying because of the issues above. ... show more

  • Light weight and appropriate stiffness.
Color: Black/Black Size: 10
These shoes are light , with a stiff sole and reasonable comfortable (Maybe they need some padding on top, so you can tighten them without provoque pain). Overall a lot of shoe for the money.

  • Great Shoe, Questionable fit
Color: Black/Black Size: 10
I love the shoe and how it adjusts. The BOA on this shoe uses a full strap rather than the bare wires at the top over your arch. My last pair of shoes had just wires, no strap, and it created a bad pressure point. The downside is that the top of the shoe is cut too high and digs into your ankle as you drive your heel down. I cut away a very small slice from the top of the "Tongue" (there isn't a typical tongue, the shoe just wraps over). I have high arches so maybe it is related to that. I found the shoe to run a little small. I wish the half size larger were available. But it works. this sounds like a negative review, but I do like the shoe and still choose to use it over my old shoe. ... show more

  • Lost feeling in toes for over 24 hours after ride
Color: Black/Red Size: 11.5 - 12
Going by the Fizik sizing chart widely available online, the 46 I ordered should be the right size for my US 12 feet. After my 130 mile ride yesterday I have lost feeling in my big toes on both feet. I sensed some discomfort after a 76 mile ride in the front of my foot. I had a bike shop adjust the cleat position and that helped. So I went on the big ride and while things were better discomfort was still present. However, after I got home I realized I couldn't feel anything in my toes. Blogs online say feeling will return but this may take days or weeks. 24 hours later I still can't feel a thing on part of each toe. Now I'm out $200 for shoes. I won't continue to wear these and risk permanent damage. But I can't return them outside the 30 day window. I won't be buying Fizik shoes again. ... show more
