  • Exactly What I Want in an Anime Fishing Game
I've been interested in fish and fishing games for a long time, but only ones with a cartoony/anime style to it. It all started with River King: Mystic Valley on the DS and I've been looking for something similar ever since. Most fishing games take the realistic approach, which there is nothing wrong with, just not my cup of tea. This game however has like 40 beautiful and varied locales for fishing, nearly 200 different marine species to catch, visual and stat upgrades to rods, lures, and reels; and even special even "boss" fish to catch. You aren't limited to catching just fish as sea cucumbers, octopus, and even whale sharks are in your scope. The gameplay is fun and you can progress quickly or take your time on each locale. You unlock new rods, lures, and reels through the game which all have different looks to them and they're all very cool. You don't get too technical in the catching department, but it doesn't need to be. What this game has is engaging and entertaining and there is a real challenge near the last part of the game. There are unlockables tied to achievements such as catching a certain number of fish, every fish in the game, and even getting 4 star tank catch on every fish. This game is literally everything I'd want from a game such as this. There's also another anime style fishing game called Ace Angler (for Fishing Spirits) for the Switch which I highly recommend. It's a Switch port of a super fun arcade fishing game and I put lots of hours into this one too. ... show more

  • Excellent Fishing Game!
Fishing Star World Tour lands in the sweet spot between realistic fishing game and arcade fishing game. I could not be happier. It has tons of fish. Not only does it have a bunch of locations, but each of those locations has a bunch of different fishing spots, and every spot in every location is fun, and often imaginative in ways I did not expect from a fishing game. (one of the early sea spots has you fishing around a giant, half submerged kangaroo statue, for example) The mechanics are engaging and fun and active. It's not a fitness game, but it certainly involves more activity than sitting with a controller in your hand (although you can play that way too, if you don't want to use the motion controls). Using the Switch joycons to cast and reel works remarkably well. There is a ton of tackle to unlock - rods, reels, and lures. It even has boss fish! I have no complaints about this title whatsoever. I'm surprised it's only thirty dollars. This doesn't do anything with a boat, or a fish finder, or any of that, so if you're looking for realistic fishing, this is probably not the game for you. ... show more

  • Simple fishing game
This game is clearly aimed at a younger crowd, but I (who is not young) still find it fairly entertaining as a relaxing chill out kind of game. It follows a fairly standard fishing game formula. You pick a spot, choose your rod, reel, and lure and start fishing. Each level will have specific fish you have to catch, although there's several other species so be ready to keep catching the wrong ones. Different lures work on different fish, and you can unlock more gear as you go. The game uses motion controls and I know they have a fishing rod peripheral, but I think using the joycons work just fine without the extra plastic contraption. Apart from the motion controls, it plays a lot like many other fishing games, just a bit more basic. Overall, it's fairly easy although you do have to be careful with the tension to avoid breaking the line. If you want realism, this is definitely not your game. At the same time, it still resembles fishing, unlike Ace Angler (or Fishing Spirits in Japan) which is complete insanity. But if you want a simple fishing game to relax with or are buying it for younger children, I think this is a good choice. ... show more

  • Great for rainy days
This game is pretty awesome. I remember having fishing master on WII. This will do. It has both saltwater and freshwater fishing. Gameplay is pretty straightforward. Kids are better at playing this than adults. Every so often, you have to reset the bearings of the controllers, but it's easy to do. Love the game and I usually play it on rainy days. Best fishing game I came across so far on Switch. ... show more

  • Hilariously Bad English Localization
This game is really fun. It doesn't explain some stuff so you have to look in options, but a lot of the time it's self explanatory. It's great! The localization though... Is hilariously bad. It was obviously done by non native English speakers. It does thankfully get the point across though. It just adds for some extra laughs. ... show more
