I bought this combo set hoping that I could take it on Scouting trips with my son. We just tried it out and I am very impressed. The rod is exceptionally good. The reel is better than you'd expect. The pre-wound fishing line is a heavier weight rating than I'd prefer and easily tangles up since it retains it's shape after casting.... It should be replaced asap. The accessories are well intended but the lures are too big. You will need to buy your preferred tackle before going out. Overall, it is great once you prep it to your conditions and preferences. I would definitely recommend. It helped me and my son create nice memories and that's what it is all about... Looking forward to more opportunities on the water with this item. ... show more

This is a nice pair to have for travel and especially good to either have a backup spun with a different setup or a kiddo set. It comes with a mono line pre-spooled, but replaced it since not sure how good that line actually is. Handles fold in to make it more compact, but it's already pretty small which is nice. The pliers are so-so, but functional. There was no lanyard for them so something to keep in mind. The little lure cases again are plenty functional. Included lures are more or less standard minnows. If I'm going on a fishing trip, would still bring a better setup. But if you have room and just might go fishing if time allows, this is the optimal one to bring. I like this fishing pole combo set. I have nicer rods and reels, but I just like how simply I can go from this tiny little package to two poles in the water in no time flat. Space is never an issue in the car or truck because the form factor of the storage bag is so small. The 4 minnows and other accessories are just fine with all the rest of my collection of fishing gear. Time will have to tell the story on the durability of the reels. I got this for my dad who is an avid lake and stream fisherman and has missed a few opportunities due to not having the rods handy. This kit is very well apportioned with 2 complete rods and reels as well as an assortment of baits, weights and a handy plier, all contained in a very compact carrying bag that can easily be kept in the car and carried everywhere. The fit and finish of the rods and reels are surprisingly good as well being the light weight. I have quit a few collapsable fishing rods. These are very well made, and the reel seat and handle are made of aluminum. The pole itself is made of fiberglass and unlike many other inexpensive telescopic rods, these rods come with ceramic guides. They are very well made. I would say that they are medium power and medium action poles. This set comes with everything you need for a day of fishing. Fully extended they are 6'7" and when collapsed they measure 16". You also receive 2 Ministoream 2000 size reels already spooled with 6lb mono. The reels have foldable handles, which make for easy storage. Great to keep in the car for those spurs of the moment urges, great for hiking, camping or for a beginner. Definitely a great value for the money. Let me first say I haven't fished in over 20 years so my knowledge and skills are rusty at best and my fishing gears are nowhere to be found, likely lost during one of many moves. My daughter has expressed an interest in fishing having observed people fishing at the local lakes, and she's about the same age when I first casted a line so I got the ministoream Fishing Pole 2PCS Combo Set to get back into the game. What I like about the ministoream set is it comes with almost everything you need to start fishing, which saves me a lot of time and effort to source the various pieces, from lures to weights to the pliers. Almost, because it's missing the floats. But otherwise it's all there, even the reels are preloaded with the fishing line and come with two spares. Setup is easy and it didn't take long for me to re-figure out how the various controls work. It's not yet fishing season so I practiced casting the line in our backyard with just the weight attached. The casting and reeling actions are both very smooth and easy, and I was able to demonstrate to my daughter and even had her cast a few times. I got the 5.9' rods to make it easier for my 10 year old, if it were for my own use I'd opt for the 6.89' rod, that said I don't feel the urge to go out and buy a longer rod anytime soon either. ... show more
