Nice pole and accessories. Invest in some good fishing line. Don’t bother with the line that comes with the pole. Trash it.

    • cheap fishing setup for the truck
I like to keep a fishing setup in my truck at all times (i might be a bit overkill), and wanted something like this that is compact, but allows me to stop by a river and make some casts if I see a spot that looks good. I gave this 3 stars because the tackle that comes with it is pretty much junk and I will likely not use much if any of it, I will re-pack the case with better gear. The stitching around the zipper is already coming loose and I've only opened/closed this 2-3 times... It will not hold up. The rod is VERY stiff, which is fine... and the Reel is actually decent for a cheap reel. This is not going to be used often and will do what i need it do, but I would have liked to see some better tackle in the bag. ... show more

Let’s make it clear up front that this isn’t a high quality fishing pole set for serious anglers, nor is it priced like one. At only about thirty-five bucks this fills a niche somewhere between a toy and a nice but cheap set, in other words it is usable for occasional use when carrying around a tackle box full of gear just isn’t practical, like for example when you’re flying out on a business trip and you know you’ll have a little spare time for some fun fishing in a small pond or off a footbridge over a small creek. Any attempts to try to compare it to something fancy simply aren’t valid and not even worth spending any time one. My reference to flying with a fishing pole is very real world, I’ve tried to do that and especially these days believe me it’s not worth the hassle. This little lit probably won’t raise any eyebrows at airport security, especially if you pack it away with your checked baggage. So it does its part at helping to make flying with a fishing pole from a no fly zone to something practical. Even when used locally it’s nice to have something like this that you can throw in your car’s trunk and have ready if you suddenly happen on a good fishing hole while on a Sunday afternoon drive. The good news is this one is a lot lower priced than some other very similar ones, and from what I can see they aren’t really much better. There’s not a lot of bad news if you don’t have really high expectations, the main thing to know is that I’m thinking it’ll be okay for little fish up to maybe six pounds. You may be able to do better but that’s asking a lot. YES NO MAYBE I ordered this for the exact reason I mentioned above, I’m scheduled to fly to a small town in a few weeks that has a great little lake and unless plans change, I should be spending my sunsets sitting on the dock of the bay, not a care in the world.
