  • Best piece of swim training equipment!
Pattern Name: Single
It clips onto the goggle strap and generates a constant beep. The rhythm can be adjusted to be faster or slower. As an adult trying to swim laps without gasping for air at the end of a single lap, I turned to a swim coach or swim lessons to teach me what I did not learn growing up near the river! One of the biggest tweets I needed was to slow down my strokes!! I was thrilled how well the Finis Pacing device put me in slow motion and managed to improve my fatigue! Great learning device. For expert swimmers, it can be used to measurably increase their speed of stokes. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Great tool for race training
Pattern Name: Single
When coach suggested this for race training, I wasn't sure what to expect. This is like a metronome and really helps to set a pace that is fast enough, but beware. If you set the tempo too fast, you lose form and risk injury. Set a comfortable tempo, and as you get used to it, gradually increase.

  • Great product, very reliable.
Pattern Name: Single
I bought it recently for my son to use and he was using it consistently. It was really good, easy to use and floats if it comes loose. Comes with a sample Olympic swimmer tempo but you can adjust the speed. Unfortunately, we were on vacation and the pool was crowded, came loose and we lost the Metronome. ... show more

  • Love this for pool and open water
Pattern Name: Single
Bought this to compliment my Swim Smooth app I've been working with. Makes pool workouts a lot more enjoyable and keeps your effort where it needs to be based on your CSS. I switch it over to stroke rate in open water to help gradually increase for race purposes

  • Long time user, I'm happy with it. Had a good experience with Finis' customer service too.
Pattern Name: Single
Mine finally semi-died after years of use. I bought mine near the end of 2017. During that first 6 months of use I was swimming 4.5 miles every single day, no joke. So when I say I have no idea how many miles I have on this thing I really mean it. I'm totally happy with the unit. I used it exclusively for "Mode 3" which is the stroke-tempo-timer thing. Mostly to challenge myself and raise the workout intensity. Never had any issues with the seal around the battery door. Never experienced any leaks, chips, cracks or anything like. It gets SUPER long battery life which is rad. I think I only changed the battery once in that 4 year period. I am very gentle with this sort of gear. when its not in use its in a thick heavy duty mesh bag that. There are micro-scratches on it from the years of use. About the same level of damage you'd see on a heavily use pair of hand paddles. I'm not sure what caused my issue exactly. My mode 3 did eventually stop working. I went to use it one day and it was just not having it. It turned on like normal, I switched the mode over to mode-3 like normal, then less than a second later it flat-lined. The way a patient does on ER tv shows.. One single non-stop beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep lol. At this point the device became unresponsive for the most part. The mode button did nothing, and the up and down buttons - - when pressed individually - - did nothing. However, I could still turn the device off by holding how the two up/down buttons together like you would normally turn it off. I turned the device back on and checked that mode-1 and mode-2 were working as designed and they were, only mode-3 has this odd issue. The unit was completely dry. No condensation or anything was visible through the body of the unit. Nothing was loose or shaking around. It's never experienced any hard shocks/drops. Never stepped on it or anything like that. I got home tried again, same result. Replaced the battery with a new one, same result. I then contacted Finis support directly through their website. That was an easy process. They got back to me early the next day - that was great. There were no language barriers. They were polite and professional. They gave me a few troubleshooting steps, all of which I had already tried. I sent them a video of the device and me cycling through its modes and describing the issue. Obviously I was WAY past my warranty period so all I was hoping for was information on maybe how to reset the device or something. They were kind enough to offer me a new unit for $25.00! I took them up on the offer and an waiting for the new unit to arrive. I'm very happy with their customer service. I'm very happy with the device itself and its use case. But... I am a cheap ass. And I am an IT guy. This is one of the simplest devices you could build. As much as I love this thing, Finis, really guys, at $50-$60 this is about 300% more than it should be. If a competitor built the mode-3 functionality by itself into a water tight device and charged $15 for it, you guys would lose the market for this entirely. Every really serious swimmer and coach I know uses these and recommends them. And everyone of them only cares about mode-3. Had Finis not offered me the $25 replacement unit - - for which I am extremely grateful - - I would have just built my own version for $15. ... show more

  • Good companion for swimming
Pattern Name: Single
I was a late adopter of the beeper. But my team uses this for pace work. There are so many ways to use the 3 modes. It’s great for CSS pacing. Also helps with stroke rate. Highly recommend it.
