  • Fun series for practice and learning
I'm a beginning guitarist and a fan of the beginning-intermediate Fingerpicking series by Hal Leonard. I own several of their titles and have used them regularly for fun and practice. The Fingerpicking standards book is probably my second favorite to the Fingerpicking Pop edition. The songs are nicely arranged even though simplistic. At times the arrangements can be redundant because it re-uses the same arpeggio for nearly all the songs but it is a great way to get practice in while learning a few songs. I highly recommend this book and the series to beginning guitarists or perhaps more advanced guitarists looking to use their creativity to tweak the arrangements themselves. Advanced guitarists looking for fingerstyle masterpieces will have to look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Good book!
I am new to guitar, but have played piano and handbells for years. I found the songs varied in difficulty, so provided a good way to improve my fingerpicking skills and I've enjoyed the arrangements, too. With practice, I could play a couple early on, and can't yet play others. Good selection of music, too. Highly recommend, either for practicing fingerpicking or to add to your repertoire. ... show more

  • My favorite
This may be my favorite song book. Of the dozens and dozens (and dozens)I own, this book gets the most use. Almost every page is dog eared. Fun fingerpicking arrangements of familiar songs. .

  • SImple for beginners, easy for intermediate to build on
I've been pickin' for several years, so the book is fairly basic to me. But it provides a basis for building my own arrangements. I'd recommend it to others. The selection of songs is pretty good.

  • Easy Arrangements
Pretty songs, romantic, sentimental and nostalgic. The arrangements are pretty dumbed down but there is plenty of room for embellishments; arpeggios, passing chords and mixolydian runs. I would use these for a restaurant gig, quiet dinner music for an older clientele Might be too mellow for some.

  • Great book for beginners like me!
This book is perfect for me. It has the chord names and the fingerings. That is what we beginners need.
