Final Fantasy X/X-2, XII:ZA and FFVII remake are the last TRUE FFs that have been made. I have played just about every single Final Fantasy. Not Final Fantasy XI since it's online and a couple off titles like Tactics Advance and Crystal Bearers for the WII. But I am a HUGE Final Fantasy fan and love FF's VI through XII the most. I'm not going to go into a too long detailed review but I have to mention some very important things. First, I have to completely disagree with what Amazon has in it's cons about little innovation from the original PS2 version description. That's so not true. There's a lot of innovation and some things here I wish would return in future FF's. The whole battle system with the CTB is so unique and never used in a FF before. I love being able to use more strategy and use that CTB window to determine when the next enemy will attack and which character will go next depending on what I do in battle. And being able to switch out characters in battle. This was such a genius addition to the series after having the traditional turned based from FFI and the ATB from other FF's before FFX. I really love the CTB and it wasn't used in enough games. FFXII, XIII, XV and FFXVI should have the CTB as well. It really needs to return for at least another true FF. It's such a shame that it hasn't been used in FFXII, FFXIII, XV and won't be in XVI. Which brings me to another point: a lot of people are complaining about the random encounters and calling this boring which couldn't be further from the truth. People just don't understand what Final Fantasy is supposed to be. It's a RPG, NOT an action game series. The removal of the traditional turned based system is a great downfall. That's another thing that makes me love FFX and FFX-2. They could have used the FFXII gambit system again even. But another main thing is the storyline in this game. From the very opening credits, to the very last part with the Game Over screen, this game pulls you in and never lets up. You feel joy, excitement, amazement, sorrow, sadness and so much more and you actually care about the characters. It's more than just a game. It's an experience. It's like reading a book and watching a movie but it's not just that because mostly it's gameplay but you know what I mean. You get so engrossed that you end up playing this game for days without even realizing it. You want to know who Tidus is and where he came from. You want to know if Yuna can save the world from 'Sin.' And who or what is 'Sin' anyway? That's for me to know and you to find out and much, much more. This game has so much to offer and I love it so much. FFX-2 is a continuation with the ATB system and awesome areas you never saw in FFX and by the end, it all wraps up so beautifully. I do have to say that I really pay attention to the music and instruments and instrumentation and everything like that and the only thing about the HD remaster is not better than the PS2 original of FFX is the soundtrack. If you really pay attention, the sounds are not as bombastic, not as vibrant, very watered down. I don't understand how they could take the beautiful original soundtrack of FFX and try to redo it and it just messed it up. Please, please, when playing, please choose the original soundtrack option to get the true experience! This HD remaster of FFX also has the Dark Aeons and Penance that weren't in the NA original PS2 version. I'm just so amazed at the amazing graphics on Switch and voice acting too. The chocobos are so cute and adorable and I love dodging lightning in the Thunder Plains. Amazing caverns, swimming and battling underwater, riding chocobos, the gorgeous, GORGEOUS town of Guadosalem (you'll see what I mean when you get there) and the Farplane. The original soundtrack music is incredible so definitely have to choose the original soundtrack option since they messed up the redone music and made it watered down. So many different emotions you feel in the music alone. I love this just as much as Final Fantasy VI through IX. Please, please, experience FFX HD remaster with the original soundtrack option. It's not just a game. It's a totally unique experience. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! ... show more

No complaints. Runs smoothly on my Switch both in tv and handheld mode, no frame drops, works as intended. As for the game itself, I’ve only played X so far and am almost done with it, but it still holds up really well. And I still have X2 and X2 last promise to look forward to. I hear those are pretty hit or miss, but X alone is already good enough for me. Granted, this is the first time I’ve ever bought the game unlike a lot of people so the price isn’t as much an issue for me, but $50 for X and another game on top of that that I’m at least going to play whether I end up liking it or not, I think it’s a good deal. Personally. It kind of sucks that X2 is a download code and not just a part of the cartridge like X, but I have a micro SD already anyway. Just know that if you’re thinking about picking this game up for your Switch, you’re probably going to want to pick up a Micro as card as well, unless you don’t mind archiving it after you’re done. All in all, good game, and having it portable as an option is great as always, especially when the graphics and run speed aren’t worsened in handheld mode. The graphics and effects are impressive for the switch. The game is as the original just with better brighter graphics. The cut scenes were stunning. Definitely buy this if you loved the older ffx. Sound quality perfect, no lagging either. For those unfamiliar with this game, it is long and there are many tasks to complete, many different ways to play. The updated sphere grid options are awesome too, it's nice to have a choice which direction each character levels up instead of it being a default way you may not agree with. Personally I find teaching wakka, Lulu's moveset is better, as well as rikku learning her own as well as yunas. Overall Iam very satisfied with this game and I highly recommend it. ... show more

FFX is probably one of the best RPGs I've ever played. I first played it back on the PS2 in the early 2000s, but my childhood friend's dog chewed through the disc... so I never really got a good gauge of the game until now. X alone was worth the price of the game to me. To be able to play it mobile is worth the "Switch tax". If you've never played it before and thinking about it, I would say this game has aged decently. I do get annoyed at the unskippable cutscenes, and the fact there is no "load game" or "restart from last save" at the game over screen. Besides that, I thoroughly enjoyed it. This game advertises itself as "over 100 hours of gameplay", which is certainly true if you want to 100% the whole game. Other than that, I spent about 45-55 hours on X alone doing minimal side quest. To be honest, most the time you are going to spend in-game is on grinding. I'm still playing X-2, but so far, it hasn't hooked me as much as X does, although I can see how that style of gameplay would appeal to some people. ... show more

I owe the PlayStation 4 version of the game and the graphics are just as good on the Switch! This game runs really well on the Switch as loading times are pretty quick. I’m thoroughly impressed overall.

FFX is one of my favorite in the series. I own this on PS3, PS2 and being able to own the Switch version which can be played anywhere at anytime is awesome. My only complaint is FFX 2 is digital only and not on the cart.
