Features

  • Nano wood fiber composite diaphragm: The diaphragm of the FIIO FT1 earphones is primarily made from selected wood fibers, with a base material of 90-year-old spruce from Northern Europe. It incorporates a specific proportion of carbon fiber material, resulting in a diaphragm thickness of approximately 0.1mm. This design achieves a balance of lightweight and durable physical properties.
  • W-shaped independent suspension design: Derived from FIIO's latest self-developed acoustic technology, the W-shaped independent suspension design increases the effective vibrating area of the diaphragm by 25.8% compared to conventional diaphragm designs of the same size. This larger effective diaphragm area and amplitude allow the acoustic core unit to store more sound energy.
  • North American black walnut solid wood ear cups: The FT1 earphones feature premium North American FAS grade black walnut solid wood ear cups, known for their exquisite texture that offers an immersive experience of natural beauty from the original wood material. The high-density solid wood not only effectively reduces cavity resonance and minimizes standing waves but also ensures that each piece of wooden ear cup has a unique grain pattern, making it distinctly yours.
  • Portable lightweight headband: The FT1 features a ball slide rail headband design, significantly enhancing its durability. Compared to other products in its class, the FT1 offers an extensive adjustment range from 0 to 11 notches to accommodate various head sizes. The headband contact area is covered with suede fabric, ensuring a comfortable and breathable experience, making it both refreshing and durable.
  • Standard with two oxygen-free copper silver-plated headphone cables: The audio connectors include a 3.5mm single-ended and a 4.4mm balanced plug. Both cables feature identical specifications, utilizing oxygen-free copper with silver plating and containing 392 strands of wire. Each cable measures 1.5 meters in length and has a diameter of 24AWG

  • I’m mad
Color: Black
With 15 seconds of eq I found the perfect sound. I spend hours using parametric eq on headphones that cost many times the price, and these just achieve peak sound with minimal effort. It comes with one of the nicest cases I’ve seen and felt. It comes with a freakin balanced cable!? Surely there’s a catch right? It’s crisp and airy like a planar. The low end is rich. The mids are full and satisfying. The highs are a tad shouty, but it eq’s away effortlessly. I can’t believe this random closed back sounds this good. I can’t stop laughing. It rivals a frigging $1200 pair of Audezes. This is nuts. Best deal in audio. Pairs great with a FiiO amp, but I’m sure anything can make these sing. Did you buy them yet? Please do so immediately. I need another pair… ... show more

  • Surprisingly Good
Color: Black
I've tried a fair number of closed-back headphones under $200 over the years because I always need a pair to use at the office that is comfortable, sounds good enough, and is relatively inexpensive. Up to this point I've only come across 3 (technically 4) closed headphones in that prince range that had a tuning even worth keeping: the AKG K361/K371, Sennheiser HD 569, and now the Fiio FT1. The AKG twins sound quite nice in general, but the seal is easily broken with minor head movements which makes them sound bad. Plus their build quality isn't particularly great (although both of mine had no issues for the year I owned them). The HD 569 don't get any love but have been my trusty office set for years now, even though they sound rather dark and don't have the best detail. However, their sound is inoffensive, they are very comfortable, they sound less claustrophobic than the AKGs, and Sennheiser has solid build on the 500 series, so the total package has always been the reigning winner. The Fiio FT1 has the comfort and decent soundstage (for closed-backs) of the HD 569, has the level of detail and overall tuning closer to the AKG K3X1s, and it seems to be built pretty well. The 2 cables it comes with are also shockingly high-quality. All of that combines to make what is likely the best closed headphone under $200-$300 that I've tried. The one thing that I'm neutral about so far on the FT1 is the bass, which approaches my personal line of "too much". Although I don't really like a lot of bass in my headphones and the ones I do own are fairly low in that department so it also happens to be what I'm used to. I suspect most people will think the bass quantity is perfect on these. Just for one last reference, I do own a set of Dan Clark Aeon RT Closed and those are clearly better than the FT1s in every category (besides maybe soundstage), but the Aeon RTs are $500 so it's to be expected. ... show more

  • Entry level excellence
Color: Black
This headphone poses an funny question of "Why don't you just get a FiiO FT1?" to every other headphone under $500. I'm not saying it replaces every headphone under $500, it just gate keeps it. The other headphones have to do something special for you to even consider them because the FT1 is just such a well rounded package. It's built well, it looks nice, it's comfortable, it has all the accessories you need, it's closed back so you can use it in office, it's easy to drive, it has bass, it has clean mid, and it has a smooth treble, and most importantly, it's priced well. Are there headphones that does better in 1 or more categories than this? Sure, but often at a premium with some other tradeoffs. If you want to get something different for that 1 thing you really really care about, and you think it's worth it, then go for it. Get the Sennheiser HD600 series if you want flatter mids, but it has poor soundstage and not as comfortable. (Also double the price) Get the Hifiman's Edition XS for a flatter Frequency response and better stage, but it's heavier and has poorer QC. (Almost double the price) Get the Meze 99 classic for more bass, slightly cleaner treble, but it's darker and double the price. Get the K361/371 if you want to be portable, but poor build and comfort. Get the Byerdynamics DT880/700 for monitoring because the treble quality/quantity is higher and there's less dips in FR, but it's hard to drive and the mid is not as flat. But for you regular "fun" consumers, this is a really good entry point. It's a more well rounded headphone than any of them, at a lower price. In terms of sound, it's a warm bassy headphone. The bass extends deep and it's decently fast, with a slight boominess to the mid-bass. (Can be reduced by improper seal, and it may even be preferred). The mid is relatively flat, and not affected by the bass. The female vocals are clean, if not intentionally (slightly) simplified due to recessed treble. The treble is relatively fast, but slightly recessed. This results is a present, sometimes zingy, but mostly smooth treble that presents well in most songs. The recessed treble does pose a problem for digital piano, where it doesn't quite sound right. I would imagine this to be a problem for monitoring/mastering too. The sound stage and imaging is good among close backs, and decent among open backs. The stage is relatively wide but not deep. Instrument separation is good but not natural. Human vocal is often "in your face". For $150, well done. ... show more

  • Fantastic sound at a reasonable price
Color: Black
I've used these for quite a few hours now and they are plenty comfortable for me. The ear pads are comfortably soft and seal nicely. The head strap is fine. I don't notice any discomfort on the top of my head. The cables are decent quality but I dont really like it. I'm going to replace it with a more pliable soft braided one like I use on my IEMs. Personal preference. Most people won't even think about it. The sound quality is fantastic. I'm really enjoying these. (I am using these with various headphone amps/dacs and DAP) I've had no build issues. In fact I think they are quite nice and they look beautiful. I've seen the reports about the screws coming loose. Even if they did come loose, they could be tightened with a small star bit. Or you could easily replace them with a different fastener. Still.. not acceptable. I hope FIIO is addressing the issue. Since I've had no issues and they sound wonderful, I'm giving them a 5. I don't know why anyone would spend more. ... show more
