The mat lays flat after unrolling it and setting weight around it. We are using it as an entry mat on hardwood floors. While the mat itself withstands water exposure, it has no waterproof membrane so water goes right through. However, by the same token that should prevent moisture from getting trapped between the hardwoods and carpet. Since the material is coarse and waterproof, the mat does slide easily, so we found some adhesive pads to stick to the corners, which has solved that problem. ... show more
