  • WOW!!!!
I've only done a few Metal Earth models. The Millenium Falcon was my first, and I thought that was a wonderful first model. I moved on to a standard and a Darth Vader's tie fighter, and those were fun, if not a little tedious. I completed the tractor until I got to the tires. I got about 2/5 through one tire and literally smashed the whole thing with my fist and was done with it, and I thought, maybe Metal Earth altogether. I don't know what sort of masochism came over me to attempt the Iron Man suit, except that I'm a huge Iron Man fan, and it looked awesome. This set makes the others I have tried a joke. A gigantic number of the pieces need to be formed before doing anything with them, and most of this forming is sort of guess and check. But if you know what you are getting into with Metal Earth, this is a very doable set. It took me about 10 hours, and if I had to peg my ability with Metal Earth and the tiny skills it requires, I'd say I'm an intermediate. Now that it is done, it is GORGEOUS! This is the epitome of how awesome Metal Earth can look. Any of the pictures I have seen do it no justice at all. When you are done with it, you will be blown away! 5 stars it is. For the price, this is an amazingly fun challenge. Just do not attempt as a first Metal Earth experience, as many of the skills you will learn with simpler models are all required for this model. WARNING!!!! PIECES 12 AND 17 ARE EXTREMELY FRAGILE! I broke both of these pieces at the tiny rectangle where they join with themselves. I decided to keep going, even though these were early leg pieces and I thought the whole thing was doomed, yet the model still ended up stable with little loss in aesthetics. I won't count this against the model, since I feel like a more advanced / patient builder would not have broken them. ... show more

  • NOT A TOY! The most difficult Metal Earth model, but beautiful if you have the patience/skill/tools
NOT A TOY!!! Positively GORGEOUS once complete IF you have the skill, patience, and tools to build it. I've built over thirty of these Metal Earth models and this one is BY FAR the most difficult! It is also the only one I've seen with a warning label on the package: ADVANCED MODEL, NOT FOR BEGINNERS. They weren't joking. Took me 14 hours to complete. Iron Man requires bending and forming of almost every piece and you just have to eye-ball it and test fit each to see if you got it right, all the while the red electroplate scrapes off very easily. Few of my tabs retained their color after connecting. This is the only model I have ever broken a piece on, and I broke two! Miraculously neither were visible in the end. It consists of two and a half red electro-plated sheets, one half gold sheet, and silver pieces for arc reactor and palms. Make liberal reference of the 360 view at Fascinations website (URL on package and instructions). My ONLY disappointment about the completed looks is the head is kinda flat on the sides and the "red" isn't quite right. It's almost purple. The packaging makes it look like a toy but DO NOT buy this for a child unless you want to see him cry. ... show more

  • Not Dissappointed.
I have built several of the Metal Earth models and building one with multiple colors is even better! I must say though the Fascinations needs to step up their game if they are going to keep up. Models from Korea and China are starting to be bigger, more complex and sturdier. One model a friend purchase had 13 sheets. ... show more

  • Great Model
Fantastic build, but as described on the package this is an advanced model. Do not attempt if you have no modeling experience or no previous experience with building metal earth models. As mentioned by others the plating is very thin and easily scratched off if care is not taken. Overall the model went together pretty straight forward, the only area I had some difficulty with was in the lower legs, attaching parts 12 to 9 in the right leg, and attaching parts 17 to 16 in the left leg. The rest of the build went together well, but lots of bending and shaping of parts, which should be expected. ... show more

  • Take your time and you'll do fine.
Take your time and you'll do fine. I rushed the head and ended up putting the forehead piece on wrong, but I still think it turned out nicely. I might try to fix that piece in the future. Like other reviews I definitely don't recommend this as your first build. This was my fourth. I also recommend the metal earth tool kit, and a good set of narrow ended tweezers. A box cutter comes in handy when pulling out some of the tabs that are hard to get to with the tweezers without scratching the paint. I also recommend super glue. You will need it from time to time when you can't get some parts to fit together just right. If the directions get confusing or too vague there is a good YouTube video of a guy assembling one. ... show more

I haven't finished it yet but I love it, it's really satisfying to complete and looks amazing, I haven't noticed any flaws in the red coating of the metal and no pieces were damaged.

  • Very details but fitment is not great
I've put together dozens of lego sets, lego Technic, and various metal sets. This set was extremely tricky to put together, tedious and time consuming to do even small details. The problem is the tolerances are so minute (fractions of millimeters in many instances) that if you don't exactly bend/twist/install something perfect, the next number of steps will be misaligned. Definitely not impressed with this kit and chose not to finish it, a first for me. ... show more

  • It has very intricate detail and takes lots of time but it's looking awesome!
Bought this for my husband. He loves these things. Just know, this isn't a quick do!!! He's invested about 10 hours and only has from his feet to his waist completed. It has very intricate detail and takes lots of time but it's looking awesome!
