I bought this laser level with the intention to determine how much fill dirt an area in my lower driveway requires to resolve extreme water pooling that caused one area to blow out 4 times last season. For my project to work, I had to wait until after the sun had set. I set a few wooden stakes in preparation to mark fill points on. Once the sun had set though, I could see that the laser was capable of broadcasting well over 400' in linear distance without a problem, the area I worked in was nearly 20,000sf collectively. I created a level reference pad in an area that has no water pooling during rain storms for the laser level to be set on, this is the high ground measuring point that will look outward to all surrounding points to determine just how much lower those areas are in contrast to this reference point. In total darkness, I could see an entirely different reality, an entire area of my lower driveway is anywhere from 5" below the grade of the above mentioned reference point grade, up to 4 feet below grade! I captured a few photos of stakes with the laser hitting them enabling me to mark the grade level with a pen. In one of my photos you will see the laser level line beneath a bush on a hillside next to a gate post, that location is an easy 400' away from the Fanttik laser level itself showing that the laser is highly legible. At this measurement point, it is 39" beneath the reference grade point. In another photo, I bore-sited the camera into the Fanttik laser, this was roughly 150' away from the Fanttik laser level. By my calculations, I will need to have close to 2000 cubic yards of fill dirt trucked in to resolve the water pooling problem. The Fanttik laser level is easy to use and is very well accessorized to make a variety of leveling jobs easy. A semi-rigid storage case is included allowing for safe storage and transport of the laser level. During usage, the available battery power % is displayed within the control pad. - Capable of broadcasting two vertical planes as well as two horizontal planes simultaneously. - The Fanttik can be tri-pod mounted for a variety of construction based leveling functions. - A receiver can be purchased as an option for extended outdoor usage. - The laser level has a very good run-time on a full charge, after 2 hours of usage, the display on my laser level dropped from 100% down to 96%. The Fanttik laser level is IP56 waterproof and shock proof ensuring durability and reliability even in rough working environments!     • This will hurt your feelings!
Full disclosure...I am not an engineer, an architect, a builder, or anything else that requires professional level precision. Years ago, we ran a fence on what we though was a straight property line. Fast forward to today and we need to run more fence, so I selected this laser level to help with that project. While learning the features and capabilities, we double checked the line we did years ago. Boy were we wrong! Like hurt our feelings wrong! I do like that there are multiple lines of intersection on this unit. I wish the laser was darker because it is very difficult to see in the daylight when using outdoors. The description refers to "the" compatible receiver but does not identify what the receiver is. I had to contact the company several times to get a recommendation on which receiver will work, since not all are compatible. I did purchase what they recommended and was able to use them as a set, but it should be noted that the receiver is looking for intersection points. Per the manufacturer, they recommended the Huepar B07L6FP48S. The instructions are probably more comprehensive to someone who actually knows what they're doing, but the price point is prohibitive for a hobbyist anyway. I never would have spent this much money on a laser just to do what we do as weekend warriors, but this may be vital for someone working in the areas I described at the beginning of this review. Other than the color strength outdoors (which may actually apply to all laser lines), I have no complaints with this unit. Indoors, there were no issues seeing the lines. I like the protective case. I am sure it is much more capable of things than I have used it for and one day I may sit and play with it enough to figure out all the bells and whistles.
