We recently purchased this for my daughter's 2nd birthday and are just thrilled with it. It arrived in beautiful condition and went together easily. It is a very solid, sturdy piece of furniture. We tethered it to the wall with extra tethers we had on hand; it does include two hooks on the back (one on each side) to help with that. I was a bit concerned that it had no backboard both in terms of stability and how it would work. I've been pleasantly surprised -- it is one of the most stable shelves we have purchased, and nothing seems to fall out at all. We were able to fit everything from oversized Eric Carle books to mini-board books and it all stays neatly organized; we love the extra drawer at the bottom for odd things (like fabric books). It is a good size for her right now -- big enough to hold stuff but not overwhelming in her room. And it looks adorable. Best of all it only had a mild paint/new furniture smell when we got it, despite all of the paint on it. We still aired it out for a week before putting it into my daughter's bedroom, but that is short compared to the month (or longer) we typically expect to air out new furniture before use. When I went to build this, One side of the shelf, fit perfectly - all the holes lined up. But when I got to putting on the other side, some of the holes did not line up, no matter what I did. Finally got it together, and went to build the drawer. Someone didn't cut the pieces to fit together right, so the drawer is at a slight angle. This really is the sweetest little bookshelf. Our first one was lost in the mail for over a month, but Amazon did send a replacement. Pretty easy to put together — perfect size! I idiotically damaged a piece of the bookshelf during assembly. The instructions were clear enough, but I used an incorrect screw, that was too large and split one of the shelf pieces. As this was to be a Christmas gift for my daughter, I contacted Teamson, the company that makes the Fantasy Fields - Magic Garden line about purchasing a replacement piece. As this was purchased on Amazon, the company wasn’t easily able to verify my purchase, but sent me a replacement piece anyway. Jerry Su went above and beyond, finding the piece in the assembly instructions to make sure it was the correct piece, sending me a screenshot, after I’d written the endeavor off as too much trouble when they’d first asked for a purchase order and a photo of the damaged piece. I am kind of a pain to deal with and impatient, but this act of kindness and taking the extra effort with a customer, as well as the excellent products themselves, has really made me appreciate this company in an age of declining quality and customer service. My wife and I have purchased the Fantasy Fields toy chest, bookshelf and bassinet for a doll and they are all well made and very cute, my daughter loves them. ... show more
