I love that this chain is adjustable- with two loops on the chain (near the clasp)- so that it can be worn at three different lengths around your neck (please look to my photos). The chain is easy to hook and unhook- as the clasp is very nice. I even have hand issues and have no problem putting on- and taking off- this chain. The box and storage for the necklace is also of fine, top quality- I don't have much space in my jewelry box so I love that it came with a little satchel. I think that this item makes a lovely gift and had I still had living family- I would want to get everyone these matching necklaces (though, I think, instead of getting our last name as the initial on the pendant, I would get our first names as the initials, as they all would match anyway, the design around the initials, I mean). This necklace holds up well over time too- and after wearing it for over a month, only have to use a polishing cloth to make it look just like new! ... show more

A very lovely piece of jewelry. The details and fine lines are worth the price. Definitely not some knockoff p.o.s. It looks expensive. A little overboard on the packaging, it was kind of comical. I was reminded of the scene in Emperor's New Groove, where Yzma comes up with a plan to turn Kuzco into a flea: "I'll turn him into a flea, a harmless, little flea, and then I'll put that flea in a box, and then I'll put that box inside of another box, and then I'll mail that box to myself, and when it arrives... I'll smash it with a hammer!" Multiple boxes, then a jewelry bag, then 2 ziplock bags (one for chain and one for pendant, which I totally get, it was more the multiple boxes I was like "What the?" about). This particular ornate Tree of Life necklace with your initials is made from Stainless Steel, and the chain is of good quality and weight to support it. Your gift recipient will adore you for this. I recommend getting a jewelry cleaner (inexpensive!) to maintain your pieces. The roots and leaves of the tree appear to grow out of the boundaries of the surrounding circle. Everything is raised as if embossed. I do not know what that is called, but it is very tactile. I have seen The Tree of Life featured in jewelry for many years. The Tree of Life - an ancient Celtic symbol of balance, harmony, and rebirth. Powerful, sacred, wise beyond measure, and a portal to the otherworld. Life-giving, sanctuaries, symbols of rebirth.
