A must have mod for anyone who enjoys shooters. I went the full route and did the soldering instructions because I only wanted to program my L3 and R3 buttons for running and sliding in certain games and the directions provided made it absolutely easy. While I do have a lot of experience with opening electronics and repairing/modding them I feel that the way everything is laid out for you makes this easy enough that even a novice could successfully install this. The buttons and the case-back are top notch quality that you would expect from eXtremeRate per usual and the addition of using metal not only makes the triggers much more durable, it also gives them an extremely premium and solid feel. The kit does add a considerable amount of weight but after using it for a few days you slowly get used to it. Only issue I ran in to with this kit was the triggers have a jiggle to them which annoyed me to no end, especially when the vibrations started because the jiggle would then turn in to a loud buzzing noise. The solution I found for this (thanks to a rep from eXtremeRate on the subreddit) was to place a single layer of tape underneath where the inside of the trigger rests inside the housing beneath the circuit board. I used black electrical tape (and you cannot even see the tape at all once everything is closed up so color doesn’t matter) and immediately resolved the issue. Now the paddles are very solid, have zero “play” in their movement, and do not rattle when the controller vibrates. Heads up to anyone buying this mod who uses a charging station that docks the controller right side up; your controller will not fit in that dock anymore. I found an “upside down” charging station that comes with a usb insert for the top of the controller and it works beautifully. ... show more

I had the official Sony back buttons on my PS4 controller, and I loved them. I finally got a PS5, but there isn't an equivalent controller attachment available from Sony. I did some research and found a lot of positive information about this product. I was a little worried because I have no experience with taking apart and tinkering with electronics. But I took the chance, and I'm glad I did. The installation was a little challenging, for me at least. But the instructional video on YouTube is very thorough. It took me about 2 hours to go through it methodically, but I got it done and it works perfectly. The paddles feel great. I like them even better than the official Sony PS4 paddles. Long story short, the installation is difficult if you don't have any experience, but it's doable, and definitely worth the effort. ... show more

So I've had the original plaatic back buttons installed for about 5 months and since then the plastic buttons had broken twice. It was a clear design flaw. This metal kit fixes that issue completely and is absolutely worth your money. These are sturdy and have a nice tactile click to them. For new buyers, install is a breeze unless you want to remap the R3, L3, and touchpad...then it will need a little soldering. But for me I don't have any need to remap those. If you already have the plastic kit installed these fit right in place....except the metal back plate. I couldn't get it to fit over the original so I just used the original plastic one instead of reinstalling everything. Do not buy the plastic kit and absolutely purchase this one. ... show more

Installation wasn't an issue - followed a YouTube video and I had it installed in 30-40 minutes. Used the paddles for about a month after that the X button on my controller stopped working. Now Im out $50 that I spent on these extreme panels and I need a new controller. Would not recommend.

    • Does what it’s supposed to!

Had the slide/jump bottons mapped to the paddles for cod and works great! now i can slide and jump w/o taking my thumbs off the sticks. makes moving around waay easier. went with the metal paddles as i read a bunch of reviews on the plastic ones saying they broke easy. Also had somebody solder it for me so can’t speak on the difficulty of that. My only gripes are the white color doesn’t match the ps5 controllers white it’s slightly grey while this is a pure white. Not a big deal but an exact color match would be nice. Also the back of the ps5s stock controller is slightly textured so a little more grippy & this has more of a smooth texture like the front of the controller. I know they make ones with rubber grips but they aren’t as easy on the eyes as w/o them. But yea if u don’t want to drop $200 on a scuf controller and want a more stock look this is the way to go! Edit: One more thing i forgot to add is i have bigger hands and the way my paddle fingers rests the top knuckle hits where the bottom corners of the metal box holding the paddles is and it’ll leave a noticeable mark/kinda digs in where they touch it. Can be fixed if i consciously think about it but if not it can get a little uncomfortable. So yea not as comfortable as if it wasn’t there but i guess that’s the price for being able to slide & jump w/o taking thumbs of the sticks and way more comfortable than playing claw lol ... show more

    • Be Careful if You Have a BDM-020 Controller (Updated)

I have installed two of these kits on a BDM-010 with no problems, this kit was my first 020. The cable lengths for 020 do not match where the ports on the board are and I could not get the L3 R3 to work. I soldered both of my 010 and everything worked perfectly. On this one neither works and my solders are good, or at least as good as I did on the other two. My guess is because Sony used a different solder for the contact points, but there is nothing I can do about that. For me this is almost a deal breaker because I like to program the left stick for sprint to a back paddle so I don't have to click the stick to run. Otherwise the metal is a big improvement over the plastic and it's more firm to press which is nice. (Update) Customer service reached out to me to work with me on this and after a few back and forth conversation and picture taking the company sent me a new set of cables, after I installed those the L3 R3 buttons worked! The metal pads feel very premium and a huge upgrade to the previous versions, I hope there will be a metal rise 4 set soon. ... show more
