Description

View largerThe EMAD DesignThe EMAD series bass drum head is named for the externally mounted adjustable damping system. This system allows each player to control the attack and focus of the drum head by choosing one of two removable foam damping rings. Choosing the thinner foam ring allows for punch and focus without sacrificing resonance, while choosing the wider foam ring maximizes the low end and attack of any bass drum. The EMAD system is available in a variety of options including single and two ply, and clear and coated versions to accommodate each drummer’s preferences.Level 360 InnovationEvans is now offering the EMAD series of bass heads with its revolutionary Level 360 technology. With Level 360, Evans has made it easier to tune and get a wider tonal range from your drums than ever before. Applying this new collar shape to our EMAD bass drum head allows it to seat itself properly and in turn provides a head that is easy to tune and a sound that is studio ready.EMAD OptionsThe EMAD line is comprised of a variety of options with varying thicknesses, plies, and coatings. The original EMAD is comprised of a single 10 mil ply and is available in clear, coated, and the Evans Onyx choices. The EMAD2 is made up of a 6.5 mil ply and a 10 mil ply for added durability and is available in a clear option. The GMAD series takes the single ply construction of the EMAD and adds extra strength by using a 12 mil ply. The Evans EMAD Heavyweight rounds out the line with 2 clear high- performance 10 mil plies. The EMAD Heavyweight is designed to withstand heavy hitting and provide maximum attack. • Great tone
Size: 24-inch Style: Drum Head
I’ve used Evans drum heads for many years. I use them on both my 22 inch and my 24 inch bass drum. They always sound great and are quite durable.

  • My REMO loyalty took a hit on this one.
Size: 16 Inch Style: Tom Head
I'm a Remo guy through and through. Not necessarily because they're the best (let's be honest, all drum head manufacturers are pretty good) but because I like the brand, the history, the logo, and thus I'm unabashedly brand loyal. Chock it up to good marketing. However, this Evans EMAD kick drum head is excellent, and I'll definitely be sticking with this thing. At 16 inches, my bass drum is very small, but it packs a punch and this head allows me to tune it as low as possible without having to worry about a flattened-deadness or too much boomy overtones. Having meticulously tuned the resonance and attack head to each other, the bass thumps and has a nice beefy tone while still feeing clean and resonant. However, like with any head, you need to tune them properly or they'll sound awful -- no matter the size of the drum, quality of the drum set, or type of head. Tuning not only the head itself properly but in conjunction with the resonance head is absolutely key. Once you get the tuning down (I watched a lot of youtube videos) this head is killer and I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Sounds great.
Size: 20-inch Style: Drum Head
Muffle system allows just the right amount of tonal resonance while controlling unwanted overtone. Combining with muffle ported Emad resonant head (I use Blk. Onyx), sound great and looks badass. I use this system on all three of my kits' basses. They are EXPENSIVE, but I haven't found anything to compare. I like the Emad 2 for my style and type of music, but if you're a lead footed hard rock player get the Emad 3 which is thicker. but a little less responsive. You don't want to put your foot through one of these. If you can afford it, get the batter and resonant head. For me, the sound was worth the money. ... show more

  • Perfect for my son's base drum sound
Size: 22-inch Style: Drum Head
My son's drum teacher recommended this brand of drum head and Amazon had it way cheaper than the music stores. It is holding up well and has a great sound.

  • Awesome Bass drum head
Size: 16 Inch Style: Tom Head
Installed on my acrylic DW bass drum. Sounds amazing - only issue is I can't use my bass drum trigger unless I alter the drum head etc.

  • The GOAT!
Size: 18-inch Style: Drum Head
Emad kick heads are the GOAT. I put this one on my sons SPL kit.

  • Works well, doesn't dampen reverb as well as expected.
Size: 22-inch Style: Drum Head
Works well, fits perfectly. Reverberation is still a problem even with the dampeners installed. Better dig out the pillow and put it back in the drum.....

  • Impressive Sound
Size: 20-inch Style: Drum Head
I really didn’t think replacing the stock (cheap) Remo heads that came with my new Sonor kit would make much difference. But, they did. Wow! The fuller sound and depth of resonance is Impressive. Since I only use this as a practice kit I’m the only one who actually hears the sound they produce, but my practice satisfaction quotient has risen significantly since the change. I used to play a lot in the 1980’s and just recently got back in the drumming game. This is my first experience with Evans and I’m very impressed. It might be new technology or materials, and Remo (the old standby), and Aquarian might produce just as good a product, but Evans heads are an excellent buy. ... show more
