My wife and I now own Teslas and as a result we need plenty of chargers. I set up a charging station at home, at my office and at her office but obviously you want to have a portable charger in the trunk 'just in case'. Evdance might not be a 'household name' but they're definitely a respected brand among the EV owner subculture. I've used several of their adapters and based on that positive experience thought this would be a good choice for a portable charging option. This EVDANCE product is definitely a step above most portable chargers. For what it is, the performance of this charger is excellent. It's nothing fancy, but it does offer everything you need in terms of features. Obviously, you've got all of the built in protections that you find in any EV charger from a reputable manufacturer. That includes overheating protection, over voltage protection, under voltage protection, short circuit protection, etc. It has a waterproof rating of IP66 which should be adequate for just about any kind of weather. It's able to operate within a wide range of temperature extremes--such a wide range of extremes that you might not ever have to worry about it. It'll operate from -22F/-30C to +122F/50C. It has auto shut off and the charger plug has a nice long handle which makes it easier (and safer) to work with. Finally, you've got a 25 foot extension cord and that's something you don't find even on much more expensive chargers. For most people, they'll want something more robust for a primary charging source. For a portable unit, however, it does a very capable job. Highly recommended! ... show more

This is the perfect level 2 portable charger because by adding a J1772 to Tesla charging adapter you can charge any EV. We use this on our Nissan Leaf and a Tesla with a J1772 to Tesla charging adapter. You can easily change the power supplied by pressing the A button under the display. We use 32 Amp on the Tesla and only 24 Amp on the Nissan Leaf because its air cooled batteries don't like getting hot. It also comes with a wall adapter kit that includes a cable holder and a control box holder. This is great for getting the cable and control box off the ground while charging. The charger also has a lock hole on the button. If you use it at a public plug or RV park you can put a luggage lock on the button to stop people unplugging the charger handle. As an extra bonus they also include a carry bag and it is large enough that you don't have to roll the cable with military precision to fit the charger in the bag. I can’t speak to the longevity of this charger but so far it seems to work perfectly and doesn't get very warm while charging. This is a pretty good portable charger at a good price point. It includes a bracket to hang the display unit and a bracket to hang the cable and hold the J1772 connector. The display shows temperature, charging status, charging current and voltage, charging time, and electrical consumption. It has a delayed start function but most EVs have their own ability to control charge start times, so I haven’t used that feature. It plugs into a NEMA 14-50 plug and will handle up to 32 amps. The cable is the same thickness as the mobile charger that came with my vehicle. There is no noticeable heat from the charger, cable, or vehicle connector during charging. The parts are well made and look nice. The case is larger than I expected but at least I don’t have to tetris everything in it like I do with the one that came with my car. It is not as thick and durable as mine but, in my case, won’t be used much. This charger will stay in my garage, and I’ll use the one that came with the vehicle for traveling. There are 4 small design issues, all with the plastic cord hanger. It screws to the wall with 3 screws that are in the hole that the J1772 connector fits in. 1. This hole is about 2” deep making it impossible to hold them when screwing them in so you will need a long magnetic Phillips to install them. 2. The 2 top holes just barely fit a 2x4, so you need to be very careful when locating it to make sure they both make good contact with your stud. 3. The holder is perpendicular to the wall instead of angled down. This makes the J1772 connector stick out in the room much farther than it needs to as you can see in my picture. 4. The screws that come with it are junk. The first one broke trying to go into a 2x4. Make sure you have 3 good screws or pre-drill the holes. #8x1.25” screw should work fine. These are minor issues IMO. I have used it on my Mach E and Corsair Plug-in Hybrid, and it works great for both. Being only 32amps it did take a little longer for my MachE to charge but it still easily charged it from near 10% to 80% overnight. ... show more

    • Super handy!
I am super happy with this portable EV charger! I have wanted one for my car for a while! My husband and I often go on road trips and sometimes it's a hassle to try to find a charging station. This works perfectly and it plugs up and charges the car easily just as a name brand charger would! Everything fits perfectly as it should and so far it has been 100% as described in the ad! It has a nice Sleek appearance in the quality of it is really outstanding! Definitely feels like it's made a more heavy duty materials and not super cheap or easily breakable! It charges the car just as fast as our name brand charger and last for a fraction of the price so this is definitely an amazing bang for your buck! Perfect for our emergency kit! Super excited to bring this with us on our upcoming trip out of town this weekend! If you are thinking about it don't hesitate it is definitely worth it! 10 out of 10 ... show more
