  • OK - not great - missing a feature that is worth having
Color: Black
I have used Capresso small espresso machines for at least the last 5-6 years, which typically can be had for under $100. When it was time to replace, I thought I would go with this GEVI model that advertises hotter water temps. It works fine, I will use it for as many years as it lasts, but the Capresso models I had in the past had a feature that when you stopped making your cup of joe, it blew air through the internal tube, pushing the water out. I liked the fact that the water was not sitting in the plastic tube for 24 ours or longer if you are away from home. This GEVI model does not have that. I would recommend the Capresso model over the GEVI: https://www.amazon.com/Capresso-116-04-Espresso-Cappuccino-Stainless/dp/B004NTBLR0/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3RWFFY482RIT9&dchild=1&keywords=capresso+espresso+machines&qid=1614430210&sprefix=capresso+es%2Caps%2C206&sr=8-5 ... show more

  • Inoperative Water Pump
Color: Black
Unfortunately, I can confirm other reviews here that the pump that moves the water from the reservoir tank to the heating chamber was inoperative while following the initial use priming procedure. Product returned for refund from Amazon. Note: Phone number listed for the manufacturer has been disconnected and no reply to email now after 5 days. ... show more

  • Great espresso coffee maker. Remember to peel off ALL packaging - unlike me. :-)
Color: Black
Very easy and convenient process to make the quality equal to a Italian or a Hungarian espresso. Very well packaged. I had trouble the first time rinse, not getting any water out, whatever I tried. Then realized, I missed a small slip on the bottom of water tank that closed the entry, as part of packaging. After its removal everything went smoothly. Update: the temperature and pressure is not high enough for espresso making, the temp control does not let it go high enough, therefore I push the foam button first, wait till the temp to goes more up, then release it and push the coffee button. It gives hotter, stronger coffee. ... show more

  • Great Machine, Not so great frothing wand
Color: Black
The Machine: The Machine itself its a good product. It seems well put together and does what it needs to do. It comes with the non-pressurized basket in its 51mm portafilter. Overall, it works. What I like: - Easy to use - Water Indicator in Drip Tray - Large Capacity Tank What I don't like: - The design of the frothing wand (will go more into it) - Inconsistent Steam pressure after it warmed up through the wand So for me, I have been trying my best to dial in the machine as best as possible. Using 15g of Fine Ground coffee from fresh beans, I can try to yield at least 30g of Espresso. As much as I try to dial this in with my grind size, tamping pressure and distribution and temperature, I cannot get it to pull the Espresso around 25 seconds. It seems to want to pull it immediately. This could be my technique but I have tried a multitude of combinations to no avail. When it comes to the Steam Wand, there is a detachable sleeve that keeps falling off. This does not seem like a good design choice on Gevi's part. I thought to myself, well...maybe its not supposed to be there..but there is clearly a while gasket that looks like it holds this piece in. This design is flawed because now its an extra item to have to clean to remove part of the steam wand. We shouldn't have to disassemble parts of the steam wand each time we make frothed milk. Another gripe is that I purge the steam wand but even after letting it purge for 10 seconds or more, the steam delivery is not consistent. What does this do? It created pockets of steam that burst out causing larger bubbles in the frothed milk. I know its not the water that I am using because I have used everything from Brita-Filtered water to my current Third Wave Mineral enhancement w/ Distilled Water. I feel this steam should be consistent so as not to introduce yet another variable and this machine does not deliver on it. I will prob sell this machine and save up for a Breville but I do have to say...its a good machine to practice on and if you are not picky like I am, you will probably be able to make a great latte from this. It's just not for me. ... show more

  • Makes weak coffee, is very noisy at many attempts.
Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. Makes weak coffee. I’ve made about four attempts to make coffee, and wasted much of it. Wasted coffee grains trying to insert the holder & strainer in its port; by following the book guide. Also the machine is extremely noisy (see my video).

  • Good quality machine for the price.
Color: Black
So far this has been a very good espresso maker and steamer. 15 bars of pressure gives a nice quality 'Crema' and it steams milk to a good stiff foam. The downsides is no control of the steam wand and it has one of those 'made for idiots' bulb that is suppose to make steaming easier, but in reality just makes big stupid bubbles of your milk. It's easy to avoid with practice. Another downside is the room for cups under the basket is small. Chances are a regular cup won't fit. Yeah, that's fine for a demitasse. But I like to drip the espresso directly into my cup and pour the steamed milk on top.... Saves the crema from lining the short cup you use to transfer. This is the reason for a 4 star and not a 5 star rating. ... show more

  • Love it
Completely addicted to this little machine. I like that it’s not huge and bulky. I do recommend you purchase espresso cups as none of mine fit underneath and they do not come with that or a little pitcher for frothing. (Which I still have yet to master). All in all it’s a good looking machine and does the job! ... show more

  • Great little manual machine
Color: Black
This little espresso machine is fully manual. Don't let that fool you. It makes an excellent espresso and does exceptional milk frothing. It takes a few tries to get the hang of the controls and the routine. The manual explains the process pretty well but once you understand the basics you can adjust your method. The best feature is the large temperature gage. This is the key as it displays temperature in the boiler so you know when to start the brew process and when to switch to froth steam. It allows you to customize the process to get the result you like. And a great price too! ... show more
