  • I think this product works better in some areas over others and that's why I ...
I am a real user of this product and this is a legitimate review. Some of these reviews seem to be professional writers that are maybe hired to leave reviews. I've been using this Epilady for over 3 weeks now. It's my first time using an Epilady. I have used this on my face, my arms, my arm pits, my legs and my bikini area. I think this product works better in some areas over others and that's why I rated it 3 stars. I'll start with the face. I usually bleach the hair on my face but started to worry that that was leaving a mustache stain so I thought I'd try an Epilady. I think it works the worst on the face because the hairs on the face or the finest and hardest for those little tweezers to grab. But it does work, it just takes a little time to remove the hair and you will likely still have to do some light plucking with tweezers for those hairs that this just won't remove. You have to be careful on the face though because you will want to press down to get those hard to get hairs but you can not press down with this but only run it very lightly over your face. If you press down it will remove a light layer of your skin and you will be left with red patches that will take a few days to heal and go away. I had some red patches where this removed a thin layer of my skin that was embarrassing for a few days. The pain level is not that bad on the face again because the facial hairs are so fine. Over all I am more satisfied with the Epilady over bleaching my face so I will continue to use the Epilady on my face. The armpits are by far the most difficult to do with this product. It's an awkward place and you can't pull the skin tight which you need to do and it's difficult to move the Epilady in small circles. One of the cons for this Epilady is you can't use it like a regular razor. You don't just swipe up and the hair is removed. You have to do little circles and many little circles in the same area before it removes the hair. For the arm pit and the face I usually have to do it every day for a few days before I can remove all the hair. It did leave a little bit of a bumpy rash under my arms and it's not smooth and silk under the arms like it is on the face. The pain level is not too bad under the arms. A little worst than the face but not the most painful spot on the body. The arms were easier then the face and arm pits because it's just a smooth straight surface so it does better on the arms. It is a little more painful then the face because the hair is thicker. It does very well on the arms and is easier to use on the arms except in areas you can't see like the back of the upper arms. You have to be able to see what you are doing to see if you've removed all the hair. For the legs this product probably works the best on because the hair is thickest on the legs. It works best and is easiest on the legs but it's also the most painful on the legs - because the hair is thick on the legs. It is the MOST painful around the knees. It was so painful around the knees it gives me a pit of a stomach ache when I do that area. It does remove the hair very well on the legs if you can just power through the pain. The bikini area - yikes - I didn't have the nerve to use this the first go around on the bikini area plus I was worn out after doing the face, arm pits, arms and legs. The pain is not nearly has bad as I expected for the bikini area and it does work well on the bikini area but proceed with caution. It's easy to grab hairs you don't want to remove so you have to be very careful. You must pull the skin tight here because this Epilady can pinch that area and cut and remove chunks of skin. The second time I did my bikini area it pinched me and removed a small chunk of skin. That was it for me and I couldn't go on anymore after that - in that area. It really freaked me out. The first time you use this your skin is silky smooth but after the first time you won't really have silky smooth skin anymore because the hair begins to grow back at different rates in different areas so while you may be able to remove all the hair that is long enough to remove there will be some just below the surface that will poke out the next day and those you wouldn't get. The biggest con is you need to do this at least once a week if not more depending on how picky you are about removing every last hair. Going 4 to 6 weeks between using this doesn't seem at all realistic to me. I have to do this once a week every where. However all the hairs don't come back at the same time like it would with a razor but enough hair grows back in by the end of the week that it's noticeable and needs to be removed. It took me about 3 hours the first time I did this to remove all the hair and that was the most painful because there was so much hair to remove. The second time it was less painful because there was less hair to remove because all the hair doesn't come back in at once. It took me about 2 hours to remove all the hair the second time around. The third time I was getting used to the pain but it's still painful. It took me 1 hour and 45 minutes to remove all the hair the 3rd time around. I don't know if I will continue to use this for all areas on my body. It's time consuming and it gets hard to bring myself to deal with the time and the pain involved. I think I will definitely continue to use this on my face rather than bleaching my face. I will probably also continue to use this on my arms because that hair grows back in so fast with a razor. I don't know if I will continue using this on my arm pits, legs and bikini area though. Since this hair comes back in within a week I don't know that the pain and the time involved is worth it to continue using it in those areas. It's faster to just shave and a lot less painful. I will use this all over for longer because my hope is if I continue to use this that the hair will stop growing in but I suspect if I were to stop using this all together all the hair would eventually come back in. :-( If you're thinking about this I think it's worth a try - given the fact that the price is reasonable - and see how it works for you. It's one of those products that some people may end up loving while others will hate. You just won't know until you give it a try. I'm glad I gave it a try. ... show more

  • Does one job- does it well
I didn’t want multipurpose machine with attachments, and price is moderate. Love that it’s cordless. Slightly narrow, and requires more “swaths” to do the legs.

  • WORKS! Just takes practice
This baby takes some getting used to, and definitely requires trial and error as well as patience! The first time I used this, it left a red rash all over my legs that took a day or two to go away. I realized after that I had tried to epilate lag hair that was not quite long enough, which ended up in me just rubbing and rubbing my skin with the epilator which caused irritation. The second time was much more of a success, and I only did one leg on one day, and the other leg the next day. I let my hair grow out a lot more the second time, and the epilator took the hairs right out! There was and still will be a little redness/red bumps each time I epilate, but since I learned how to use the epilator correctly, the redness goes away in the same day. A few TIPS to newbies: When you first open your epilator, read the instructions FIRST before anything. This is my first epilator and I'm so glad I took the time to read the instructions and other reviews on here. This epilator requires at least 12 hours of non-stop charging before the first use. 12 HOURS. Yes, you read that right. Just like a new phone, it needs to be charged fully before using and to increase the battery life. (Also, the light on the front stays red when plugged in, even when fully charged for 12 hours. It doesn't ever turn a different color than red unless it's turned off/unplugged.) So set a timer or keep track on your own and don't rely on the light to alert you. After your first or second use, or whenever you start to feel the epilator lose power or sound like it's becoming more quiet/dying, just plug it back in. Other charge times won't take 12 hours and you can use the epilator while plugged in as well. HOW TO USE: Another tip is to hold the epilator so the letters are upside down (obviously lol), with the more open end of the V shaped blades facing the opposite way your hairs grow. (So for legs, basically starting at ankles and working upwards in circular motions.) Circular motions seem to work best and may have to be slower or faster circles on different areas of the body. Sometimes you'll have to go over a spot more than once to get stubborn hairs. This is a very lengthy process, and can take up to an hour or more for both legs depending on your comfort levels. You may have redness for a couple hours afterwards as well, so DO NOT epilate your body right before...or even the same day as a hot date! :P Give yourself time and space. PAIN: I try to always use the epilator after a hot shower on dry skin, so my hairs and skin are more flexible, which decreases pain. Speaking of pain...this is not for sissies! It helps to try to hold skin tightly or pull skin in opposite direction/stretch skin of epilator. I would rate this at about a 6 or 7/10 pain level for legs, and about a 9/10 for armpit...I have not been brave enough to try on my bikini area. The more you use an epilator, the more used to it you become and the less painful it feels. I'm also aware that a week or so before a woman's period, her skin is a lot more sensitive, which can be even more painful. So be considerate of yourself and your schedule! A good test for pain before buying an epilator is to take a tweezers and try plucking a leg or armpit hair, or any hair that that you plan on epilating. This is similar to the feeling of using an epilator, because it literally plucks your hairs out. (Which is why it works so well!) RESULTS: I have gotten pretty great results from my epilator and I only have to use it about once a month on my legs (and my hair grows FAST...let me tell you!) There have been little stray hairs that I just have to shave off later that day, but the epilator gets about 98% of hairs for me at least. My skin is so smooth! After the redness and red bumps fade that is. It's also great to apply a non-irritating body moisturizer to areas after epilating. ... show more

  • Works great.
So far so good. I don’t think this product is nearly as painful as others have rated it. However, I have been waxing my legs for years. You do have to go over the same spot many times to get all the hair. It’s small and easy to handle in your hand. Be sure to pull your skin taught for a better tweezing. I did mine in sunlight. That helped to expose the hair better. It’ll work nicely for quick clean up between waxing. Or, I may just use the Legend 4 for all my hair removal. ... show more

  • I ❤️ this! Bought 2. One for my daughter and then one for me.
I still own and used my old Epilady that is still working great except for cord. Well instead of just buying replacement cord I decided to buy rechargeable. Easier no cord to deal with after being charged. Game changer. This is my second purchase of this exact model. My daughter took my first one haha. So I went back to my old one but the cord kicked the bucket So I purchased another one. LOVE THIS!! ... show more

Purchased based on a recommendation from a friend. Sounded like it would be a little painful but worth it. My first experience was charging it. There was a red light to indicate it was charging but that light never went out. Emailed company to see if it should go out to indicate fully charged but no response. Next I used it. It was a little painful but still thought it would be worth it. The problem is it does not get all the hair. It feels like the second day after using a razor. I went over areas several times and still missed a lot. I am going to keep at it but so far not what I thought it would be ... show more

  • so far so good
I had used a 1990s model back in the day but became frustrated with ingrown hairs and the pain (!!!), and so I gave it up, but decided to give epilation another try after horribly bad razor nicks (so much blood!). I regret not sticking with epilation then (most of my legs are now hairless, a few stragglers, and patches along the ankles and other sensitive areas which were too painful to epilate with the 1990s model). For my first session back, the sensation was not so much painful as prickly (with little red pock marks as assurance that the nasty little hairs had been plucked by the roots). Three days in and I still feel very clean where I epilated. While I hope that the hair will eventually stop growing back (as before), I will say that I'd rather epilate once a week than shave once a month. Less pain, less blood, and the feeling of cleanliness is priceless. ... show more

  • Pain-free
This isn’t just for women. This is my 2nd one in 5 years I use it for the hair on my ears back of my neck shoulders and my back I’m extremely hairy and this does the trick it’s a lot cheaper than going to the salon, and having all that waxed.

  • better than waxing (but slow) and not painful at all
I've been a regular waxer for many years. When I had a baby a year ago and we decided to live off one income (mine) and salon waxes were immediately off the table. But I wasn't ready to start shaving again, especially as I have very sensitive skin and get major rashes if I shave my thighs or bikini area. I started waxing at home instead of going to the salon. I found it messy and I think a bit more painful than the salon. Plus I'm just not that good at it--I never got the same results as at a salon. Half the time I'd rip wax off and see most of the hair left behind. And it makes a sticky mess too. I telling a friend from work about my hair removal plight and joked about getting the old Epilady from tv commercials. My friend surprised me by saying her sister used an Epilday and loved it. Why not look into it, I thought? I read all the reviews here and I'm glad I did. The aggregate of what I learned was that the Epilady is less painful than waxing but also kind of a slow process. I did notice when I tried it out that the Epilady is more of a pinchy or needle-like pain as compared to waxing pain which feels more like a burning or slapping sensation. Since you're removing fewer hairs at a time, overall the Epilady is quite a bit less painful than waxing but definitely takes longer. My main complaint about the Epilady is how long it takes to use it. I expected this after reading other reviews, and they are all correct. It takes 20 minutes to do a decent job and longer if you've let it go for awhile. I think the woman who says she does it every Sunday and takes about 30 minutes to do, probably has the right idea. If you're looking for an alternative to home waxing, I think the Epilady is a great option. I think it's easier to reach backs of legs with the Epilady than with wax, and it's definitely not as messy as wax. All you get is a little drift of your plucked hairs below the leg. The biggest drawback to using the Epilady is that it's time consuming, but it's sort of a soothing grooming ritual, so if you make time and space for it, I think you'll enjoy it as I have. I'm also a VERY impatient person, so I'm not sure this would annoy others as much as it annoys me. Certainly spending $60 once on the Epilady is a bargain compared to salon waxing, or even to $10-$15 a pop for home wax kits. I think this is probably my favorite method of hair removal unless I decide to invest major $$ into laser removal. Imperfect, but the best of the bunch I've tried. ... show more
