Made of plastic with a very visible vertical seam on both sides. Extremely lightweight. Both top and bottom are symmetrical in size. Has an access hole on one end with a plug that allows filling the column with sand or gravel. This is a must if it is placed in a non-protected area. Mine blew over with a heavy plant on top when a mild storm blew through about 30 minutes after it was set up. It would be much more stable if the base were larger. ... show more

    • Column for statues.
I ordered 2 of these for my large greek head pots. The shipped items arrived fast as promised. I used them in the back of my yard at the fence line . I'm 78 years old and knew that I could not lift the column after it was filled with the 50 pounds of sand, so I dug a small area level and placed the columns in UPSIDE down with the hole at the top. Filled them and replaced the plug. I them glued a tile on the top to keep water from going into the column. This may not have been needed, but didn't want to look back one day and wish I had done this. After this I hammered a pipe into the back area behind the column to tie it to keep them stable. Placed my 44 pound Greek head pots on them. I could not be happier. The plants cover the bottom of the posts and the look is perfect. The bottom is beautiful as the top. ... show more

This column is more suitable for outdoor use than indoor use. It can be used indoors too, however. It has an opening on the bottom to fill it with materials to weigh it down. It is quite lightweight. The finish I selected was the greenish stone look. It can be painted over if necessary. It served the purpose I needed it to serve, which was to put a plaster cast bust on it. It’s super super cheap. May have been 3D printed. Would be a terrific prop for a child’s play. You could build a kid-sized Parthenon with a few dozen.

This isn't a slam against the product; I just wasn't thinking about the material of construction when I bought it. Just know that if you put it in an outside garden where mine is, you're going to have to anchor/stabilize it, because it's very light. And if you have pets inside, they can tip it over easily. Even a good breeze could tip it. But it looks great in my garden. I have stabilized it and now have a fern on it, sitting high in the garden looking wonderful. Not plastic but made of strudy fiberglass cpmposite construction. It was hollow not solid like a bird bath and I could run a pipe through it. It can be removed to access and clean out the pipes. If you do this be sure to cut the cross sections streight. I had trouble glueing it back togehter. Nothing stuck to the composite material. I purchased a 4 inch PVC coupler and glued it inside with ceramic tile mastic. These newer mastics are water based and can be washed off after the project is complete. It is togehter firmly now.     • Perfect for plants
I liked these columns because they are light weight and easy to move. When weighted down with a substantial pot, they are stable. I have one on either side of my front door with a large pot of geraniums on each.
