    • Great backdrop stand for the money

First, let me say that I am using this stand with paper backdrops in photography, not with muslin, fabric, or vinyl as others do for trade shows or photo sessions. That said, I am extremely happy with the product when factoring i the price paid. The good: Super light weight. The entire setup with bag is easily carried and fits nicely across the back of my Sonata trunk. Yes, it is easily portable. The storage bag. I never thought I would place a storage bag so highly at the top of my likes for a product but this one is awesome. It has some cheap zippers, but beyond that, every single part of the stand has its own place in the bag and is held securely. The carry handle works well and even if the zippers break, there are two sets of clips that one can use to hold things together. Easy of assembly. Takes maybe 5 minutes to set the backdrop stand up, with maybe another few minutes to raise everything into position once you put the background on it. 4 cross bars for support. One can customize the stand for their use. For example, I only needed two of the crossbars fit together for a test session I recently did with a 53" backgroud roll of paper, while one with a wider roll might use 3 or all 4 sections put together. What this means is that one can set this up in a smaller space if needed for something like torso or head shots if doing photography. Cons. Thumbscrews that hold each vertical section tight. I own a set of PBL light stands I purchased here on Amazon and they have this niftly cam lever that flips between lock and unlock on the verticales. On this stand one needs to constantly screw/unscrew multiple turns so that you can raise or lower the stand. If using two people, this is a non issue, but if one is putting up the stand by themselves, you raise one half 6 inches, then move to the opposite end and do the same on that side. It gets tedious. The crossbar needs to be better constructed. Assembly is simple but even under its own weight you can see sag with all 4 bars in place. I wish the steel was slightly ticker and there was more material that slid into the end of each tube. Maybe an extra 2 inches of length would solve the issue. (yeah, I am sure some will chuckle at that) Zippers on bag. While the bag and storage in the bag are a top selling point, the zippers are just plain crap. They are so small and easily caught in the material, I am sure I will break one soon enough. I am tempted to buy one of the more expensive ones from a company like Savage, but at double the price, I am worried it will not be double the quality. In fact the improvement might be marginal, if at all. That is how well and easy this stand is put together for the money. ... show more

Been having this setup for over a year now. I love using it when i get a chance to shoot. It’s very versatile. My only thing to add would be to get you some sandbags to get the actual post steady and to prevent the setup from falling over. Especially if your the type that likes to setup outdoors

This product Is an excellent value. It has large diameter metal poles and is easy to assemble. The tripod is spring loaded, and is stable with a wide base (Although I recommend purchasing sand bags too). This backdrop should work very well as long as you don’t move it often and treat it with care. The poles and springs are medium- to- heavy duty, but the other components are light duty. This is not really a complaint because heavy duty backdrops would cost twice as much. However you should be aware that the plastic screws and plastic hardware seem fragile if tightened too much or abused. The metal stiffening cross bars at the base of the tripods seem rather light duty too. But if you plan to put it against a wall and leave it there, it will work great..... Otherwise, note that this backdrop includes a usable travel bag. If you plan to use the full length of this backdrop, the horizontal pole for the backdrop may sag slightly over time. This backdrop also includes two spring clamps. However, these clamps are not “heavy duty” and are too small to clamp onto a backdrop cloth if clamped around the backdrop poles (perhaps these were meant for a smaller diameter pole system). A clamp opening three inches could work, but these only open two inches (so the clamps don’t close completely if mounted around the poles in this system). But the clamps are a minor amenity, you can buy some on your own at a minor cost. This is a great value overall, and will work well for most home studios—but It is not meant for a traveling backdrop to various locations (not for professional use on the road). ... show more

I almost purchased a less expensive stand but then read its reviews about how flimsy it was and how the top pole sagged. So I did some research and came across this one with 1.2" poles — much wider in diameter than the cheaper kits. This stand from Emart is so sturdy and the poles sleeve together to form a straight structure. I don't experience any sagging at all and the poles don't flex one bit when set up at 5' width. It stands firm too with no need to weight it when shooting indoors and out of the weather, and there is very little risk of it falling even if knocking it a bit. I do wish it came with just one extra clamp. Two are included in the bag and they work perfectly to hang a backdrop. My backdrops without rod pockets tend to sag in the middle though and a third clamp placed in the center would alleviate this. I'll likely purchase more clamps or clips, especially when used at full width. The included ones work well and hold my fabric taut and very firmly without any damage. The bag has well organized pockets and loops for the poles. The zipper functions well and the handle makes this comfortable to pack around. I'm really pleased I chose this stand over a cheaper alternative. The performance value is excellent and for its price. ... show more
