Never did like drinking from metal or plastic and discovered I’m not alone! This mug is perfect. Pretty sturdy. The cap is plastic with a rubber gasket to help keep it from falling out but your lips hardly touch it. The handle is large enough for larger hands and higher up on the cup to allow it to sit in a cup holder. I do have a little problem leaving the rubber bottom piece behind as my cup holder is tight but no biggy for me. I just place it back in the rubber within the cup holder. It detaches to make it washable, I expect. Coffee stays hot enough to have enough time to drink it but is not a thermal cup. Fits under the Keurig with grate removed. I always drink my coffee from a large ceramic cup. I have gone through those that are made with stainless steel and have never been happy. Even the best stainless steel mugs seem to impart a slight metallic taste. Maybe I'm sensitive to that sensation of metal and coffee, but I always feel best to go with the ceramics. Many people criticize the ceramic mugs because they don't keep heat. These are not insulated mugs. These are not mugs that have a vacuum or a foam insulation between two pieces of plastic. They are solid ceramic. Anyone who drinks from a coffee mug knows that ceramic mugs are not meant to keep your coffee hot for five hours. They are for drinking your coffee in a single sitting. So, everyone who feels that the coffee mug should be downgraded because it doesn't hold heat is unaware that no ceramic mug will hold heat. There was a insulated stainless steel mug that had a ceramic lip added to it. That was a very nice mug but it is now out of production and I can't find it anywhere. I like this one because it's large enough to hold my big cup of coffee. I typically pour at least 16 to 18 ounces and that's my morning wake-up call. Many of the mugs don't hold this amount animal was disappointed. The lid does work. It's not meant for jogging or throwing on the side of your seat. However, it does provide good cover for a quick dash out the door. My only complaint is that the top of the mug where the opening is somewhat narrow. That lends to a higher mug than normal and it somewhat difficult to wash the base of the mug using a sponge or your fingers. However, this is a minor problem and I still give the mug four stars in terms of quality of ceramics, size, and the way it looks. Also, the base is a nice cushion so it doesn't scratch or mark any wooden surface. So, if you realize that ceramic mugs are not necessarily for hiking, keeping soup and coffee hot for five hours, or meant to be used as a travel accessory, these are great. I use it as my at home drinking mug. It size, quality, and build is excellent. As an aside, I did order the midnight black. The base actually looks dark blue. Maybe it was a mistake in shipping however am still happy with the mug ... show more

I wanted a simple, microwave / dishwasher safe coffee mug that holds a decent amount. This mug worked. Saw some reviews how this isn't a good travel mug, which is fair - aluminum (aluminium?) mugs work great for travel mugs, not so good around the house when you need to reheat coffee. This ceramic mug has a removable silicone base to avoid damage to the mug / soften setting it down (needed for its weight), and a silicone lid to hold in the heat. Obviously it's not a good holding in heat as a vacuum chamber metal mug, but works better than standard coffee mugs. Also, the lid only opens at one end, so sipping doesn't allow air in with your lip seal, so I just detach the sliding piece of the lid. This may sound like criticisms, but again, this lid is perfect for around the house coffee / tea drinking. I've taking it with me on the road, it works fine for that as well. The silicone base fits snug in a cup holder, so the cup doesn't budge while driving. Bottomline, for the use around the house, this is a good mug. ... show more

I like this but I want to like it MORE. I love the look of it, I love that it appears to be a regular coffee mug with a handle and I like the style of the lid being one that you slide back. The only thing I don't really like about the mug has to do with the lid. There is a small gap that does not get covered by the lid, so my coffee gets cold more quickly than it should due to heat being able to escape so easily. My coffee gets cold before I'm halfway done with it so I always find myself needing to reheat it. Also, the lid can be difficult to wash as it is essentially impossible to get under the sliding part of the lid, and coffee gets under there. The lid is also pretty stained from my coffee which obviously only impacts the aesthetics of it. Overall, if the lid had a slightly different design, I think this would be a 5 star review ... show more

As a lover of coffe, tea, and everything warm and cozy, I have to give kudos to the design of this mug. Here's what's different: 1. Silicon base for the win! This not only protects my antique furniture, but also makes the mug feel much more sturdy/stable. 2. Recessed lid. When you take a drink, your lips only touch the ceramic of the mug and not the plastic of the lid. This is a key difference between this mug and similar mugs and it makes a big impact. 3. Handle shape - streamlined and fits my smaller hand so that it feels like I have more control over the mug. 4. Large capacity. My only complaint, if I had one, is that it comes only in 3 colors not offering much style and personalization. I would love to see are large selection of mug colors and various colors of silocon as well for a more modern look. ... show more
