  • Dowel pin jig.
Great design, well built and finished.

  • Works well, need to get it adjusted properly.
First of all, this tool is really well made. It is a really heavy, all-metal tool. Everything speaks quality. The drill collars are spot-on dimensionally. Overall, very impressed with this. Two of the holes are threaded. The unit comes with paired drill collars, so you can use both collars at once, saving markup and drilling time. Or you can use just one hole if your spacing will be different. The other holes are for larger sized holes and I believe they are meant to use a larger sized drills directly without the need for a collar. They did include some glue dowels, but they seemed to be a little small, perhaps they were metric size, as close as they could get to imperial size. I had some imperial size glue dowels and they fit perfectly and snugly in the holes. No big deal, since you will be getting or making your own supply of dowels anyway. Right out of the box, without any adjustment, I drilled holes to join two pieces of wood together. As you can see in the first photo, the holes were off. I went through the calibration procedure and got the machine working perfectly (see the last photo). Note: After you loosen the two screws, per the calibration instructions, you must turn the threaded calibration collar to actually adjust the jaw. This is not made clear in the instructions. Turning the collar will move the jaw in and out relative to the other jaw. You will know when you have it right when both jaws snug up to the center piece without any gaps on either side as you tighten. I would do a check afterward with some scrap wood to make sure you got it right. They provide a hex wrench to loosen and tighten the calibration screws. One other thing: There are hex set screws underneath the jig that hold the two guide bars in. Make sure they are tight. I had one of the bars slip out when I was using the jig. Overall, a well-made tool. ... show more

  • Bigger & Far More Useful
I am over the moon at just how useful this jig is! I have already used it to drill the holes that I need to drill in some 1.5" IPS (Aluminum T-Slot), both single-sided & 4-sided, 16" long pieces for a project that I am working. Plus, the holes that I needed drilled in some 2"x4"s for the IPS to attach to. Overall, I am very happy with the quality of this jig and it is much larger and heavier duty than I thought it would be, I definitely recommend this jig, especially if you are like me and could use some help drilling holes where they should be and straight, neither of which I am any good at. My Rating System: 5-Stars - A Superior Product or Above Average & An Excellent Value - I would recommend. 4-Stars - Above Average OR Excellent Value – A great choice. 3-Stars - Average – What one might generally expect. 2-Stars - Below Average Product OR Poor Quality Control – Maybe seek an alternative. 1-Stars - Avoid if at all possible. ... show more

  • SUPER GOOD TOOL
This well-made, sturdy and durable dowel jig is very adjustable for both the thickness of wood and for the size of the dowel. The bushings and guides keep the alignment perfectly at a 90-degree angle. Centers accurately for drilling holes. The jig screws tight and doesn’t loosen as being used. Great tool! With this dowel jig comes a selection of pre-made wood dowels. Only complaint: my 1/4-inch bit would not fit in either of the two 1/4-inch bushings, so I needed to use my 7/32-inch bit to drill a hole when using the 1/4-inch bushings. Other than this one “flaw”, I would highly recommend this dowel jig. ... show more

  • Perfectly aligned dowel pin holes!
I absolutely love this jig. I wish I had it years prior. I’ve always drilled holes hoping to get my holes aligned, but now the guess work is gone. This jig is sturdy, and the bushings are long so your drill bit won’t have a chance to drift off center. There is a good instruction manual for correcting an off center issue, but it comes perfectly centered and I imagine it will take a long time to get to where you might be off center. I built shelves in my closet using this tool, and all of my dowels were perfectly aligned. This tool is a must if you ever need to install dowels in your own designed projects! ... show more

  • Great Jig for Assuring Accurate Dowel Placement
If you do a lot of dowel-joinery in your woodshop like I do then this is a jig for making your tasks that much easier. It's self-centering and can be used to make accurate edge and butt joints, mortising guides and miter joints. It's also easy to use: Basically, you line up two boards you want to connect with dowels, draw a line on each to show where the dowels will go, clamp the jig on the edge of one of the boards, align the mark on the board with the desired dowel diameter, and insert the correct bushings in the jig before drilling the hole to the depth desired. The drilled hole will be perfectly located in the center of the board between the two edges. Then you insert the dowels and glue everything up and clamp until dry. If you work a lot with dowels, I think you'll find this product to be a great addition to your woodshop. ... show more

  • Well made but lacking needed registration marks
The media could not be loaded. This system is well built and heavy duty. It clamps securely to the work and can even be use on up to 2in. dia. round stock. The sample dowels are enough to get your feet wet and being able to handle 1/4in. to 1/2in. dia. should cover most needs. It is necessary to relocate the fixture for each hole being drilled unless you are happy with the factory separation given for the two threaded holes. I thought it had all threaded guide slots but that is not the case. Only two on one side are. This is mostly a one hole drill guide. The center markings on the guide walls are not easy to see or use on thin boards which is it's downfall. It helps if they would have transferred that info onto the external scales that are on the sides. The center of each guide hole can be found by inserting a 1/2 size drill and laying it flush to the opposite side wall while clamping a factory cut piece of scrap or a machined end of a length of round stock up against it. It operates smoothly, holds firmly, had readable instruction, a warranty and reasonably priced so it will get 5 stars for it's effort ... show more
