  • A cool way to handle hot stuff!
Being legally blind, I find it difficult to judge depth, and distances well enough to safely remove small, hot bowls, or cups from a toaster oven, especially with oven mitts. So, I thought back to my chemistry class days, and remembered the big beaker tongs we used for handling large containers with. I figured these might aid me in inserting, and removing small bowls that have nearly vertical sides from a toaster oven. Maybe even a microwave. I just got these in, today, and tested them out with a custard bowl, and they seem to hug the bowl nicely, with one hand. You do need to be careful when placing, or removing the bowl if it's placed in the center of the oven rack, or your finger tips might touch the rack, so, best to place a bit of foil on the rack, then place the bowl, and wen removing placing, or removing the bowl, just grasp the foil with the tips of the tongs to slide the bowl forward enough to safely grasp the bowl without scorching your finger tips on the rack. Or, you can use both hands to do it. I do wish the handle ends were about a couple of inches longer, though. One important note: If you're baking above 380F, you might want to consider removing the rubber grips, as rubber melts at about that temperature. So, a 450F baking temp may well melt the rubber, especially if you hold the item too long. I've not tested this with a hot over, and bowl, yet, but as hard as it is to remove melted rubber from anything, and especially as these custard cups are on loan from me mum, I'll not be putting the rubber to the test. LOL :) I noticed the construction seems quite rugged, and not at all flimsy. At least I now have a safe way to remove a small, hot bowl from a hot toaster oven. :) ... show more

  • Beaker tongs. Yup.
They do what they are supposed to do. Be sure to put a drop of lubricant in the joint and work it in well, you won't be disappointed.

  • Worked well on a 500ml PYREX beaker
Needed to lift and pour a 500 ml beaker containing boiling liquids and it did the job. Grasped the beaker tightly and securely, and accomplished the pour without any spillage.

  • Use to handle cacti
I use these to repot my cacti. They’re great.

  • Great!
I bought these to use for cactus and succulent potting. They definitely do the trick. I didn't take into consideration though that the thorns would stick in the rubber. LOL Oh well, I have tweezers.
