  • Hat with solar panels, will charge cell phone.
Size: X-Large-XX-Large
Big brined, comes folded in half. Indoors the hat collects light light the green led, to me indicates good charge voltage. Looking in setting up to charge a flashlight. Looks like this hat will fit on a car dashboard to keep it from walking off.

  • Cool hat
Size: X-Large-XX-Large
I'm in to cool things that can help in different ways, and this is one of them. There is a down fall. The pic showed a string around the chin to help keep the hat on; witch i like using when it's windy with a large brim hat. Unfortunately my hat had no string when i go it. Other than that it does great. ... show more

  • An excellent survival hat.
Size: X-Large-XX-Large
So, after studying this and giving it some thought, I came to realize that this really isn't an "everyday" hat, I mean, not generally speaking. I mean, how actually useful is it to feed a few extra watts of power into your phone while you walk to the store, for instance? Chances are, your phone isn't going dead in that instance. No, this is, to me, rather more for things like, fishing trips out on the boat, or to the beach, or, what I thought was perhaps the most interesting, for survivalists / preppers. Preppers, you might ask? Absolutely. If you're in conditions where heat stress is a potential enemy, you need some kind of shade from the brutal sun, right? Clearly, the size of this hat means it gives you a lot of shade from the sun. And then you have the solar aspect of it. Most preppers are going to have at least 1 rechargeable device in their pack...a phone (satellite or cell), a GPS, a flashlight, ect. Carrying a solar panel to charge those devices is nice, but a heavy addition to a "minimalist" survival pack. With this hat, you don't have to carry a solar panel in your pack, taking up valuable space. You can wear the solar panel on your head, as well as keep the beating sun off you during the heat of the day. So, I think this hat has REAL potential in the survivalist / prepper's pack, because I think it serves multiple roles, and anything that goes in your pack that does more than one thing, is space saved. Even if it doesn't end up in your pack at all, but rather on your head. So while I think it has a somewhat limited appeal for everyday use, I think it has a DEFINITE appeal for survivalists and preppers, as well as people that like to fish, beach goers, hikers, ect. One thing to keep in mind, is that while you're wearing it, many of the solar panels will be slanted away from the sun, so charging performance "on the move" will be somewhat limited. However, if you take it off and orient all the panels directly at the sun, performance actually isn't bad. Of course, if it's cloudy or raining, forget it, lol. In all, I really like the idea of it. It definitely fills a need some folks might not realize exists. 5 stars, I definitely recommend checking this one out. ... show more

  • for the times when power matters more than appearance
Size: X-Large-XX-Large
This hat is basically a trucker/baseball cap with a rigid brim that goes all the way around. It is pre-folded a bit to allow it to store flat which means it is always a bit misshapen, but that's OK. As a charger it does work, but it's not really going to provide a lot of power. If you are going to be outside all day listening to music this will keep things going longer, but you need realistic expectations. The hat comes with a triangular zipper pouch which holds the hat in a fairly flat form. It's not the smallest the hat can be, but it's a good storage size. The build quality seems good. The brim part is higher quality than the crown of the hat, but it should last some time. There is a clip-on chin strap that works fairly well to keep the hat from blowing away. The hat comes with a USB C and a USB A port for charging devices. The ports are on a plastic block that is on the back of the hat, so the cables would be behind your head when charging. It works fairly well at keeping the cables out of your face if you have a phone in your pocket and are charging with the hat. Biggest flaw: They missed big time when they didn't include a way to connect the triangular storage case to the top of the hat to make the whole thing into a wizard's hat. It totally could be, with just a little bit of velcro. It almost works even without the velcro. And, as awesome as having a wizard's hat that charges your phone would be, even better is that that would have made the whole thing a lot more pleasant in rain, because with the vented mesh top that it has now, if you wear this in the rain the top of your head is getting soaked. So, yeah, I'm disappointed. Well, I'm not really, but this is a silly looking hat and if you are going to be silly, you might as well have the option to be fully silly. But apart from the wizard mode failure, it seems to be a good product and it would make a good gift for someone who spends a lot of time outdoors and occasionally has their electronics go dead on them for lack of battery charging options. ... show more

  • Clever idea. Does charge phones, but not actually very good as a sun hat.
Size: X-Large-XX-Large
I ordered this hat more as a nerdy curiosity than anything else. My wife and I often go to walking together at flea markets, farmer's markets, and other outdoor venues. I thought this hat could serve double duty to protect me from the sun and charge my phone at the same time. I can report that it will indeed charge my phone while I walk, so that part of the design is good. Some other aspects could be improved though. First, why black? The idea of a wide-brimmed hat is to protect from the sun and/or rain. If I'm out in the sun, I certainly don't want a black hat to gather the heat and bake me. A lighter color would have been a much better choice. Secondly, why is the top made like a trucker's ball cap with foam in the front and mesh in the back? It's not only kind of ugly, and cheap-looking, but the mesh does not effectively shade my (admittedly balding) pate from the sun. Why make a sun hat that does not shield the wearer from the sun? The mesh also does not stop rain. The mesh, if anywhere, should be on the sides, not the top. So I will rate this item four stars because it succeeds as an interesting bit of tech that will charge phones, and as a conversation piece for nerds like me, but as a sun hat it fails pretty badly, being black and mesh on top. Four stars. ... show more
