I've been searching for a saddle pad to better fit my Barefoot Cheyenne saddle, Size 1. Currently using an Equipedic endurance pad and it's huge. I couldn't bear to spend $300+ on a barefoot pad made for this saddle, since I'm not sure I can trust the foam on the barefoot pad. It seems like most of the serious endurance riders prefer equipedic and there has to be a good reason for that. This saddle pad sort of fits the saddle, a little too short front to back. It's a much better fit than the equipedic endurance pad. I love how it blends in almost seamlessly with the saddle I rode in it and it seemed like my horse was less likely to fully relax his neck downwards, so I'm guessing the thick dense foam creating a better spine clearance from the equipedic pad is a must for us. I'm keeping this saddle pad and just bought the equipedic replacement foam to use instead of the foam shims that came with this pad. I think that will give us the best of both worlds for half the price of the barefoot brand pad. I'm also anticipating this pad to be fairly easy to clean since it appears that the foam will be very easy to install and uninstall for washing. I could get rid of the saddle riser after buying this pad. It fits perfect on our 14 hand hackney pony with my daughters 14.5 saddle and a 16 saddle. It doesn’t bunch up under the girth like a lot of other pads do with smaller saddles. The pads come out easily to clean.

I bought this to use on a Thoroughbred mare in her early twenties who has the classic high withers with a hollowing topline. I usually use a saddle pad and two cushy half pads to help her be comfortable. When this arrived, I took one of the foam pieces from the back and put it in the front where she needs it, and it was the first time I got a perfectly even sweat mark when taking off the tack. So I have two of these. My Specialized Saddle requires a very thin pad and they are hard to find without sacrificing thickness or shape. This fits perfectly. I don’t care for the weird foam it came with but I think if you keep the cut outs and get a proper insert or gel pad it would be helpful. My saddle is made to adjust so I don’t really keep anything in it. Highly recommend if you have the Eurolight or any general endurance saddle. ... show more

    • Right idea with a couple design flaws

This product is almost perfect. The padding is great and sits well on the horse. It is tough and durable and well worth the money. What I don’t like about it: the placement of the girth holding strap is awful. It needs to be slid forward quite a bit. I can place one of the girth straps through it but not both as it causes to pad to move out of place on the horse. Also for a high withered horse, it isn’t the best. It could use a either relief piece of material near the pommel area to better hold the pad in place because otherwise it slips back behind the withers. ... show more
