The Sony have a terrible problem and that is that they have not so good paint. I learned that a month after I got my A7III and immediately bought a case of this type. My first one lasted about 4 years which I consider very good considering the use I give it and I hope this one lasts me as long. The first one I had was black and I opted for a red color so that in case I forget where I left it I can locate it at a glance. My only annoyance is that when you want to open the memory lid, one of the corners blocks the opening and I have to use both hands, one to move the section that is in the way and the other for to flip the cover open. UPDATE 050924: Decided to try a silver sharpie on the black version of this product. Here's how it goes: with a dabbing motion, fill any embossed text or marks with the silver colorant. In about 15 seconds, it's dry. Now you have it plastered all over the general area. Make sure you've completely silvered every last spec of the lettering, but try not to make a huge mess. You can go back and re-do if you pull too much color. Grab an alcohol damped cloth and wipe off excess. Some stubborn spots may need some careful fingernail scrapes to remove excess. In about 15 minutes, you'll be done. I find lens cleaning tissues work best by using a flat face of the unfolded towelette, especially on the raised buttons. Works surprisingly well, and I certainly can see things much better. Will it last? Not likely, but by filling the indented characters, it will hang in there for some time, and it's easy enough to renew the process. I can now say it's more likely I will keep this nice protector on the camera. Original Review, prior to the above modification: Like most buyers, this is going on a brand new camera. Unfortunately, getting used to all the buttons and their function is a bit daunting, as it's a new model for me. Expected some obscurity, as it is a cover after all. However, the packaging clearly shows an image on the back of a yellow one with WHITE LETTERS where all the buttons have text, so they had the right idea at some point in product development. Unfortunately, they appear to have abandoned this feature, so I'm left guessing at the black text, faintly embossed in this jacket on several of the multi-function button locations on the back. (Sony a7iii) Not sure I'll keep it on, but erring on the side of physical protection of the camera, and hope to learn the buttons well enough to intuit my way through enjoying using the camera. Meanwhile, contemplating how I could paint or mark the more confusing buttons with some form of white coating. Unfortunately, the nature of the material tells me nothing's going to stick, and likely why they abandoned that feature early on. Otherwise, it is certainly a quality product, and an excellent idea. In terms of practical use, YMMV, and if you're fresh to photography, or not yet familiar with the new camera you intend to use this on, the obscured buttons may cause a bit of frustration and require more patience than some users may care to extend. ... show more

I have been using this case for about two weeks and must say it has impressed me as well as others. It is a great addition to the camera. Not only as a protector. It provides a strong grip and textured feel when handling the camera. The matte color is very classy. I have been asked several times where did I get it. The case is not ideal for an A7R iii. The access to the dials are covered slightly when it should be open to your fingers. Same to turn the camera on, it, the button is partially blocked from your finger. Sometimes I feel to remove it. I don’t think it fits well at all If you have a battery grip don’t buy, the grip does not work with this case. I had to cut the bottom part for my grip to work. By the time I am done with this review, I have decided to not use it, what a waste. You buy it to protect you camera, but it slows you down in the field. Notice the shutter wheel in the middle photo, it is buried in the skin, so to turn it you have to use a lot of force to push your finger in the groove to get it to turn. It is too distracting, Sony did an amazing job to design a7Riii for ease of use and this case compromise their efforts. ... show more
