The shape of these vases is really pretty and interesting. That's good because the opening on them is about an inch. The arch of the interior prevents you from putting anything in them straight up and down. Whatever stem goes in them, has to go at an angle and with the small opening, the stems don't want to splay out. They tend to want to just go right or left. So... the vases CAN be used with stems in them but it's challenging to get the stems to not be clumped together. The vases can also be used as stand-alone decor. The texture of them is a little rough (on purpose). They do not have a glossy smooth finish. If you are placing them in front of a light surface, they will stand out nicely whether they are filled or are left empty. Just docking a star because they are hard to fill. ... show more

This beautiful black vase looks very sophisticated on my shelf. It's pretty sturdy because I have about 10 pampas grass stems in this vase. For the price of this vase, I think it's worth the purchase. This would make a great gift for a few special occasions.

These are two very nice, ceramic vases that feel to be pretty high quality, particularly for the price. Aesthetically, they are quite simple and classic looking, with no unnecessary design flourishes. They both have a matte finish, with a nice rough texture to them, that makes them feel higher quality. Interestingly, the larger of the two vases has a slightly smoother finish, while the smaller one feels a little more sandpaper like. I prefer the feel -- for what it's worth -- of the smaller one. It just feels a little higher quality and more handmade like (although I'm sure it is not handmade). That being said, once you set these up somewhere, you are not going to be touching them with any regularity, and they look like the have the same finish. So this is a super minor -- admittedly largely irrelevant (!) -- point. But I found it curious. Of course, with the shape and the large hole in the middle directly under the vase opening, you will likely not be able to jam in longer stemmed flowers. This is really more for those very light, dried grasses, like they show in the description. At least that's my sense... I'm not sure you'd want to put something live in there where you need to fill the vase with water, since it would be very difficult to clean. So overall, these are very nice, very attractive vases that feel like you are getting good quality for the price. ... show more
