  • Nice upgrade
Size: Small Style: Stand
I am very happy that I didn't go with the reordering cheaper model that I had used to death. Though this dressform technically does the same job as its cheaper cousins, THE MOST EXCITING THING IS THAT IT STAYS IN ONE PIECE IF YOU HAVE TO MOVE IT! Yes, this is the first adjustable dressform I've encountered that you can pick it up from any part and it won't separate from the pole or the base. I love this. The dials are stiff, yes, but they kind of have to be, or you couldn't put pressure/squeeze it. I will say, though, that the color in real life strangely isn't how it photographs. One of the reasons I was turned on by this product is that it looked very light and fresh. Almost white. The true color is really the grey silver as in the product description and could never be mistaken for white. Can't downvote for that, though. I also appreciate that the torso is elongateable. I would have loved it if it could be shortened as well, as many ladies I make clothing for are very high waisted. But again, that's a wish and I'm not going to downrate for that as they gave the measurements in the description. All in all, very happy with my purchase and am happy to be using a new, sturdy, movable form. ... show more

  • Height Adjustment Failure /Long Manicures Beware
Size: Large Style: Stand
I have not actually used it because I am just upon opening the box and trying to set it up. It is apparent all the reviews about the height adjustment problems are true. The two pieces which twist to keep the unit at the proper height are just flimsy plastic parts. The unit will not stand tall no matter how tight I go. Plus twisting it with two hands and managing the height is basically Impossible. You need a second person to hold it. The unit constantly slips to a low height position. For this reason I would mot recommend this product. When you pay a few hundred dollars for something, it would be nice to have more than just plastic parts holding it together. In response to those comments about the dials, yes it is also difficult to change the width if you are attempting to change large increments. The directions indicate to go in small increments in order to loosen the tension around as you increase the dials. I found this to be acceptable, however beware of long nails. I did find it difficult to grasp the dials and be able to squeeze the locking clip with a long manicure. Perhaps a set of pliers would work better. When fully extended at a proper height, the unit is slightly wobbly. I would imagine this to be a bit frustrating when trying to pin proper measurements. I am not sure I will be keeping it. I can’t get it to stand tall without garments. I expect it will fail even more with material weighing it down. The manufacturer could solve this by using a few stronger parts in the places where strength is needed the most. ... show more

  • Makes such a difference!
Size: Small Style: Stand
I love this dress form! I make and alter costumes for a local theater company, so having a variety of sizes on my dress form was a must. The dials are hard to turn, but worth it to have multiple sizes. It's lightweight and easy for me to put in the backseat of my car without disassembling. A few notes: The numbers on the dials don't always match what the measuring tape says. So I always double check with my tape and adjust as needed. There is a pin cushion near the neck -- it's a type of foam -- but it pops out whenever I remove the pin. I plan to glue it in place. The dress form itself is pinnable so it's not necessary to have the pin cushion. Keep in mind that because it's adjustable, there are gaps that can make pinning to the form a little challenging. For example, you can't really pin at center front or center back but instead to the right and left of the center openings. If I was looking for a dress form only to make clothing for myself, I would likely get a form that did not have the dials because it would be easier to use for one size only. ... show more

  • Adjusting is all over not very customizable and dials are chinsy and hard to turn
Size: Large Style: Stand
I’m not pleased with the quality of this dress form. The measurements and dial positioned led me to believe it would be customizable to my curves, but that is not the case. Adjusting is all over not very customizable unless it’s all over the areas near the adjustment too. The waist is smaller than it says and the dress form is shaped oddly at the bottom. It’s built too tall in the torso and the waist keeps falling any time try to adjust to an hourglass shape. The dials are chinsy and hard to turn. This should be half the price, in my opinion. I had to buy 2 sets of padding and go down on the dress form measurements then build up to match my shape. It doesn’t stand strong on it’s own, so I can’t imagine trying to use it for sewing apparel. I haven’t even gotten the measurements right yet and I’ve had it 2 days. I am going to look around to see if others seem better for my needs and I will probably have to return it for something better suited for my needs. I bought arms and some of those butt spandex to try to get the shape better, but I may as well have bought a dress form that costs twice as much considering how much I’ve spent on accessories and time trying to get this to work for me. The things I like about it are that it turns around, has a hemline attachment, and has a customizable neck that’s easy to turn once we realized how it gets installed and that it needs to be pushed then turned. It has a pin cushion on the neck top but it’s extremely flimsy and too shallow so only 1/4 of the length of the pins goes into what feels like foam. It’s very tiny. My regular pin cushion probably holds 50-75 pins. This might hold 10 close together. I don’t know how long it would last if it was used regularly though since it’s not made like a pin cushion. I think if a person doesn’t need to add padding for their shape and maybe if they are the same torso height that works with this dress form, then it might not be so inclined to want to be unsteady in its legs, and could work for some people. It just isn’t right for me at 5 feet tall size 18, 38G right now. With A LOF of effort and accessories, I managed to get close to my measurements and shape. Since I only bought it because it said it was able to be my measurements, I am probably going to have to return it. ... show more
