I've been getting into Texas BBQ and been bragging to my brother in Canada. And he has been begging me to show him. So I decided to bring my own meat since briskets are hard to find and other meats usually way more expensive in Canada. I buy mine in bulk and I had already everything I needed, thus needing a big cooler! We bought this Driftsun 110Qt cooler by default. The Yeti I wanted was back order. The other brands I knew were back order as well. And my trip was approaching quickly and I needed a cooler! My wife did some research and found the Driftsun so we ordered it. I pre-cooled the Driftsun by bringing it into the house 2 days before the trip. The night before, I put two bags of ice in the cooler. The morning of the trip, I moved the cooler into the truck and started packing: 1 frozen 15 lbs full packer brisket 1 unfrozen 14 lbs full packer brisket 2 frozen beef tenderloins 8 frozen short beef ribs (you know the brontosaurus looking kind!) 4 frozen pork rib slabs 4 packs of frozen wings I added ice as I was packing and topped it off with more ice. I didn't count how many bags. I think overall I added 6 or 7 10lbs bags. I also placed 3 temp probes to monitor the temperature. Then I closed the lid, never to reopen until I reached destination. During the trip, the temperature on the 3 probes stayed steady at 28, 29 and 31 degrees. I left at 9am Saturday, arrived at 23:00 Sunday, left the cooler in the vehicle overnight when I arrived. We opened the cooler on Monday around noon. So so roughly 50 hours after I left. When we opened the lid this is what I found. The top ice was still covering the meat. It had seized into more of a block of ice. We literally had to take a hammer to chisel at it. Needless to say that everything was still frozen solid. And I had to use the hammer to keep chiseling and prying the meat out. Not an once of water in the cooler. And remember the unfrozen 14lbs brisket? Well, it froze!!! Came out frozen just like I took it out of my deep freezer. After it was emptied, I left all the ice in the cooler and kept the cooler in my vehicle. On Tuesday I looked inside; there was still no water in the cooler. On Wednesday morning I started to hear some water as I drove around. Not much. On Thursday evening I opened the cooler. It was still loaded with plenty of ice but with lots of water as well. If there were still food in there, it would be totally safe. Today is Friday, I have not looked but I expect more of the ice to be gone. The cooler will be useful on the trip back as well. It will be loaded Canadian favorites! We took this camping in 90-100 degree heat and it was in the direct sun for the first half of the day. We camped for 14 days and only needed to get ice 3 times! The original ice that we had put in it was still in there (most of it had melted). But we did have meat (pre-cooked) in there and wanted to be sure it wouldn't go bad. If there was no meat in the cooler we probably would only have got ice once. It is very heavy and definitely needs two people to carry it. It would be nice to have it on wheels somehow so one person can tow it. They would have to be some heavy duty wheels to accommodate they weight. ... show more

I used this to keep my food frozen while traveling from FL to MA. I used 2 large bags of ice on the bottom 24 hours before leaving and we’re still frozen when I started to load it. I alternately layered my frozen food and large frozen ice packs until full, the trip was 2 days driving. When I arrived it took 1 day to start up the refrigerator until the freezer was cold enough, the top ice packs were thawed but the food was still frozen underneath. I left the ice bags in the chest in the car for 2 more days and they had finally thawed after 6 days. This ice chest has an extremely tight seal especially when there is some water along with the ice in there, it creates a tight vacuum seal. Very happy with my purchase and will get great use out of it especially when camping. I highly recommend! ... show more

I found coolers less money that although may be smaller come with dividers, coolers, netting and more. This cooler is great and large. However Ice only lasts 3-4 days. Grant it that the water will remain cold for a week but for the price I expected more. Overall if you have some extra money to waste get this cooler ... show more

I bought the 110 and 75 quart cooler for offshore fishing. These coolers are incredible! Saved about $100 each compared to Yeti. Yeti is a great cooler but I would put up Driftsun cooler against Yeti all day long. I put block ice in the bottom of the cooler with my bait. Then cut a yoga mat to fit over the ice. After 3 days the temperature above the mat in the low 50’s. Below the mat 36 degrees. After 3 days !!! Yes the mat helps, but only with a high quality cooler!! I love these coolers so much I purchased another one. This one the 45 quart for everyday use. I also purchased the dividers and baskets for each cooler. Except for the 110 quart cooler they fit like a glove separating items in the cooler. I had an issue with the 110 dividers. Too wide causing them to bow. I contacted customer service and a few days later received two new dividers from Driftsun. No questions asked. No hassle whatsoever. To the contrary, they were very apologetic. They didn’t even want the original dividers back!! So I use them as cutting boards for fish, bait, etc. I can’t say enough great things about Driftsun products and their customer service!! I would give them 20 stars if that were possible. And Amazon? Well amazon is amazon. Consistently high level of service. If I can’t get it on Amazon, I don’t need it!!!! ... show more
