  • Excellent tablet and incredible features for the artist on a budget!
Speaking as a digital artist, it has been a really long time since I've used a graphics tablet and not a pen display tablet. However after trying out the A50, it's proven to be more than capable as a backup! It's very light and portable, making it a perfect companion to, say, my laptop. Setup was very quick and easy, I didn't really need to calibrate anything and as soon as I started to sketch with it, I encountered no issues. It easily made for a backup mouse, even. Setup aside, it's built extremely well with a great set of features. The 8 hotkey buttons are easy to use and easy to reprogram however you please, it very easily took out the need to use my keyboard in my artwork, something my current pen display doesn't have. The added touchpad to the A50 has also been extremely useful, providing an easy reliable manner of adjusting, say, zoom and brush size with no hassle. The pen fits just well in my grasp, and though it does not have an eraser tip like my pen display or a Wacom, what it has instead is a dedicated button to quickly switch to an Eraser mode and back, something that feels even quicker to use than with my other art setup. On the topic of using it, the digitizer works extremely well; my lines come out clean, strokes come out accurately, and the pressure shifts and fits very accordingly as I use it. In the course of only 5-10 minutes I had become shockingly acquainted to using the A50 like I do in my other setup. It is very easy to get immersed into using it, especially if you already do digital artwork. If there are any cons I have for this tablet, it would be that probably in the future there could be ways to make the buttons and touchpad stand out a little more as they seem to blend with the tablet a little too well, but I think after using it a little longer, I'll gain some muscle memory and using the hotkeys and touchpad will become second nature. All in all the A50 is an incredibly useful and excellent graphics tablet. It very much succeeds at what it does and surpasses it, in fact. It does all of this with a very affordable price tag of around $55 when I got it, a very great budget tablet that I would absolutely recommend to anyone. ... show more

  • amazing tablet for its price and good replacement for wacom intuos
I’m an artist who does commissions and I wanted a new, affordable tablet that would function well enough to replace my main tablet, a Wacom Intuos Pro M. The VEIKK A50 is an amazing substitute for a tablet that is more expensive and by a more well-known company. The A50 has 8 hotkeys and a gesture pad, plus a battery-free stylus just like the Intuos. The stylus has two side buttons, one for switching between the pen and eraser and one for right-clicking. Right out of the box you have the tablet, the pen, a soft pouch for the pen, the cable, and a tool for removing pen nibs and a pack of spare nibs. This tablet is a lot cheaper than any of the Wacom tablets, but has the same features as the Intuos Pro. It’s around the same size as my Intuos Pro M, though a little smaller. Its active area (the part where you draw) takes up most of the tablet, while the Intuos has a big blank area around it, meaning I get around the same effective area but with more portability. The A50 is also a lot lighter and thinner, so it’s easier to carry around! My Intuos is really big and cumbersome, so I worry about taking it to cafes, schools, workplaces, etc. The VEIKK tablet is great for that. The VEIKK drivers may not look very modern, but they get the job done well, with a pen sensitivity chart and the option to save hotkey settings to certain programs. You can’t save sensitivity settings to programs, which was a little cumbersome, but I’m told this is a feature they might add soon! In terms of compatibility, I’m very satisfied. This tablet is amazing with Medibang, and because of the 8000+ levels of sensitivity and sensitivity chart I was able to actually get some nice line effects that I’ve never gotten with my Intuos. It was a pleasant surprise and helped me develop a nice new aesthetic for my lineart. Customer service is also very responsive! I contacted them to discuss how I felt about not being able to save pen sensitivity settings to certain programs and they responded very quickly and discussed it with me before promising to pass on my suggestions. Here’s some minor nitpicks and likes: - I can drag to select text, which I couldn’t with my Intuos. This means I don’t have to unplug my tablet when copying my clients’ emails. - Gesture pad swipes are really satisfying - The stylus pouch is a lot more convenient than the Intuos stand for someone who works on a couch, and has a pleasing felt texture - I had to uninstall my other tablet drivers to install the VEIKK drivers, but reinstalling only takes a minute so it’s not a big issue - Sometimes the buttons on the pen won’t react unless the nib is on the tablet and I would accidentally erase or add a color by mistake, but it doesn’t happen often enough to ruin my experience - No physical eraser on the stylus (Intuos styluses have an "eraser" section at the top so I kept flipping it on accident) All in all, the VEIKK A50 is a sturdy, affordable tablet that can compete with the likes of Wacom’s Intuos and will get the job done for you. If you’re looking for a first tablet or a replacement one, I definitely recommend this! You’re getting essentially similar function and size as an Intuos for a small fraction of the price. The two art pieces I attached are ones I made while testing the tablet, the first being a completely original piece and the other a digitalization of traditional lineart I had previously drawn. ... show more
