I have always always wanted to take the time to do pencil art. With all the videos on you tube my dream of drawing is coming true. The instructional videos reference different pencils to use. This pencil art set fills those requirements. I was a little overwhelmed wirh all that was included in the set at first. Everything you need to know about using pencil, erasers, and blending can be found on you tube. This set is a great step to have on getting started. Is it good for beginners? Yes I think anything is good for beginner, this set specifically has 40 pieces intact and it comes with sketching book. Giftable? I wouldn't, maybe to a kid that is fond of sketching. Value for Money? At the time of writing this review its $19.99, its really good. The bag is neatly presented and has quite a bit of extra space for anyone to add any additional supplies you might need. Even the sketch pad fits nicely. Not artist quality, 2 x HB, 2B, 4B, and 6B; 1 x 2H, 3H, 4H, 5H, B, 3B, 5B, 8B, 10B, and 12B, various charcoal sticks and pencils, a couple of sharpeners (work well), an eraser, a chalk/charcoal holder (not like my old one and doesn't seem to work), strips for edging, drawing paper (not white). I ordered it because I wanted the case and probably should have just bought a separate case because I need another anyway for existing pencils.
