  • Pop filter
Does what it's supposed to for years now. 5/5

  • The filter does make a big difference!
The same day I ordered the filter I ordered a CAD U37 USB Condenser microphone. Or was it the microphone first and then the filter? I'm not familiar with any mic or as a matter of fact any recording instruments. This is my first attempt at the whole process. I have a good friend who is in the recording business whom I turned to for help. After listening to my ideas of what I wanted to do he gave me the name of three good microphones and suggested I do a little research before purchasing. The one thing he did point out was no matter what I purchased I should get a Pop filter to go along with it. I had never heard of such a thing but took his advise and ordered this Dragonpad Pop Filter. Well my new computer system came in and a couple of days later a good supply of acessories from Amazon including the CAD U37 and the filter. Being handicapped I must rely on others for everything from opening the boxes to complete setup of the entire system. I also need to use voice recognition software which is the reason for the recording equipment. Once the computer technician left I called my sound expert to set up the mic, filter and software. The mic is USB so that was easy as well as the software. He waited to attach the filter until we could check everything out. Once all was set up we tested the mic and software and all work fine. We did some simple voice recording as well and all seemed great to me. Then he attached the filter and again made similar recording tests. The difference between the unfiltered voice recording and the filtered recording though not day and night was still much better with the filter. Now I understood why the filter was so important for him to recommend. There was no cracklings, no hum or noise like breathing, background noise like the stereo was almost non existent and my voice actually sounded better. For the cheap price of the filter I believe it's worth every penny. Set up was as simple as attaching the clam and adjusting the screen. I read that some have trouble with the attachment and I can see why. The CAD U37 comes with a tripod like stand and attaching was simple. Perhaps a different stand could make a difference for those with this problem. All in all the filter does make a big difference and I'm very pleased with the purchase. This item was purchased without any financial considerations and full Amazon retail was paid. ... show more

  • Top Notch Pop Filter, But Expect It To Bend After A While
If you don't properly tighten the pad to the stand you are using, especially if it is floating, the pad's durability will decline to where it wasn't as tight or secure. I bought this stuff to stream on Twitch and based on worldwide recommendations, but if I can get my family to switch ISPs I can go back to it. For the time that I did stream until unstable internet, I can say this is a top notch sound quality product with great material... though someone like me needs to clean it more often. ... show more

  • Will mount to a wide range of stands
I purchased this because I wanted an inexpensive pop filter for a condenser mic I own. Frankly I based my purchase decision on price and figured I would just accept the loss and buy a replacement locally if this one did not work out. Fortunately it did. If I were to say this is an amazing pop filter I'd be lying. It is, though, good enough for home use and even light gigging. What I love is the fact that this will fit poles on stands up to 15/16 inch, and possibly a full inch if you fiddle with it. The clamp has a soft, felt-like material that will protect mic stands and booms. The actually contact point on the clamp has a cross shape groove with positive contact and that component is made from a hard plastic that also will not mar your stands. The gooseneck is 14.5 inches and the entire assembly is 22 inches with a 5.5 inch inside diameter pop mesh. The outside diameter of the filter is about six inches. Here are a few things to consider. The filter mesh is somewhat flimsy. It does the job and in a home studio is more than sturdy. For gigging it can easily tear if subjected to a lot of handling. The gooseneck itself is very flexible and will hold the filter in place, but will also move if jostled or bumped. Again, for a studio this is perfect. For live performances it will work, but I would invest in a sturdier pop filter. Bottom line: it's a darn good deal and a very effective pop filter for controlled environments. Not recommended for live performances. ... show more

  • Great Pop Filter For The Price; Bad Clamping Mechanism
This pop filter has brought my recordings to another level. I have to say it helps me not to worry about my heavy annunciations of the "s" sound and "p" sounds. Design & Functionality The Dragonpad Pop filter is a plastic circle with a mesh netting inside. It has, what appears to be, an aluminum shell tubing connecting the filter to its hinge. The hinge is where you connect it to your microphone, stand, or anything the clamp can hold on to. The clamp is made of metal and plastic. The clamp is sort of curved or angled; the mechanism that twists to close the clamp is a mediocre metal screw with a plastic cap with grooves to help you twist it. The clamp here is the issue with this affordable pop filter. I use the Blue Yeti microphone. It is a really sensitive mic so you could really hear my annunciations clearly. I bought this pop filter and keep it about 3 inches away from the mic and it helps so much. Such a small thing makes such a big difference. Having the Blue Yeti also mean the base is hard to attach the filter to. You really have to rig it on. This is quite frustrating and the reason why I deducted a star. Opinion For the price, you might as well purchase it. To be honest, I deal with the horrible clamp just because the quality of the pop filter is great for price. If you can find one with the same quality at a cheaper price or roughly a bit more you might want to pick it up. I don't mind dealing with the issue but it is annoying. If you have any questions feel free to let me know. Thank you for your time, Axiom Brevity ... show more
