Description

The 8-eye Shriver Hi is packed with rugged features: a commando tread, an extra-empowering platform sole with a chunky heel and a sleek silhouette. The result: a women's boot that strikes the perfect balance between femininity and the tough, rebellious Dr. Martens spirit. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole.

I usually wear the Doc Martens with the regular sole. I spotted these with the chunky sole and wasn’t sure? I don’t regret this purchase. The thick sole makes this boot feel heavy when you unbox these shoes however it really makes them extra comfy for all day standing. They have not felt heavy to walk in even after all day wear. The leather is a little stiff. I know they will soften up after some wear. The black color is very versatile. The fit is stiff but not uncomfortable. I know these will be my go to work shoes because they are comfy, durable, and have a lot of style. They also make me an inch and 1/2 taller. Love that! ... show more

These boots are amazing. This is my first day wearing them and my feet feel great. I've had no difficulty breaking them in. These boots are great, I was considering getting myself a pair of platform Doc Martens for a while, and I'm glad I finally splurged. Pros: The sole is super sturdy and thick but also flexible enough to be comfortable. The leather seems to be decent quality. After having them almost a year, they are due for a polish but that's the majority of the wear and tear they've sustained, they are still in almost new condition. Cons: The leather takes a while to break in, it is still pretty stiff and I still get a blister at the back of my heel if I walk in them a lot in one day. The laces that come with them are a tiny bit short, I can't lace them up all the way and still make a decent knot, but they are more comfortable to leave the top loop or two without laces anyway. Overall: definitely my favorite shoes. I'm glad I got the leather version, because these will obviously hold up well over time and look super cool the entire time. They run slightly big but I feel like that's better than being too small, at least I can still wear them, you just might want thick socks. ... show more

These boots are very cute and I've gotten so many compliments every time I wear them out. You can dress these up since they have a slight heel or dress them down. I like the thick style sole and heel since it adds a few inches to my short height. My only complaint is that they are heavy and after walking for long distances my feet get tired. I have not had them for very long and they have obvious creases so we'll see how they hold up. I'm usually a size 6.5 or 7 and ordered the size 6 and it fits well. ... show more

These are super comfy. I bought a 7 and wear a 7 .5 I still needed a foam orthotic and thick socks make them super comfy but I can wear them all day with no rubbing or blisters. Definitely a heavier boot. Typical of Docs..
