  • Great beginning guitar for even a 34-year old newbie
Size: 40 inch Color: Black Brown
I have played some nicer brands and more expensive ones, yet this one plays just as nice and sounds just as good. For the price, it is a great buy and will be my first guitar. I have had it for several weeks and love it. I love the darker wood color I chose and it really stands out as something different from the cliche lighter wood patterns. It stays in tune very well, no defects, the kit was great and I will be playing it for many years to come! ... show more

  • Big sound, looks and feels great, great bang for buck
I was surprised at the sound of this guitar. Not only was it unique from my dreadnaught and grand auditorium style guitars, but was pretty fun and easy to play. Appearance/look/feel: Overall I really like the way this guitar looks. I like the black tone on the tuning machines and the bridge pins, strap pegs etc. The finish is a really nice/natural matte finish - not glossy but still smooth. Overall I really like the look a lot. Quality/condition: I was surprised at how light this guitar is, especially given it’s size. It was packaged well and didn’t come with any scrapes, scratches or nicks. I don’t think this could take a beating, but at the price point I’d say this is a great campfire/take anywhere guitar. It felt really well set up, and I haven’t noticed any issues with frets, neck, action etc. Given it’s stock from the manufacturer, a professional setup I’m sure couldn’t hurt - but it sounds fantastic as is without it. Sound: The tone is kind of new to me, but I also haven’t had a jumbo or mini jumbo guitar before. It has plenty of volume, even when fingerpicking. I really like the really strong highs/treble on this, with just enough bass and mids. This thing was made for strumming though, can really cut through a mix/band I would say. For the price, it’s a fantastic tone, with some better quality strings would sound even better. NOTE: the strings aren’t great, and are not comfortable to play (even as a 15+ year player). I’m going to swap them out soon with my go-to D’addario strings. I think it may make the tone even better (good as it already is), as I don’t think the stock strings are very good. Features/Bonus: I wish this guitar had onboard pickups/electronics, but it’s still really nice. The guitar itself is pretty basic, but sounds great as is. It came with a few generic extras with varying levels of quality/utility: -Gig bag: decent, not super padded but more than just a cover. Definitely usable. -Tuner: Didn’t seem to work great. I’ll probably use my phone or Snark. -Capo: Very nice! Also goes well with the other black accents on the guitar. Aesthetically pleasing. -Picks: Just fine -Strap: Surprisingly good, though basic. It’s a fabric of some kind, which is nice compared to the plastic-y kind. -Spare Strings: Will throw out as I think they’re pretty bad. -Pickguard (?): Randomly came with this bendy, vinyl stick on pickguard (I think), but cut doesn’t match soundhole and will go in trash. That said, plenty of really nice aftermarket pick guards that could be added. Big sound, looks and feels great, great bang for buck. ... show more

  • Actually quite good quality for the price (had a little “hiccup” with the first one)
The media could not be loaded. I had moderate hopes for this guitar. I’m not a professional guitar player or luthier by any means, but I’ve been playing guitar for over 50 years. Initially I got the guitar out and was quite impressed with the packing (see pictures). It came well packaged and protected. I tuned the guitar initially a couple steps lower so as not to stress the neck until it had more time to settle in. I was becoming impressed with the sound, noticing that the strings that come on it weren’t great but not too bad. I started to play a few chords and thought wait, what is going on. I soon realized that the 3rd fret was too high. It made the high E string unplayable below that fret. I checked it with a credit card (poor man’s fret rocker) and indeed there was an issue there. I thought maybe it could be compensated for by relaxing the neck. I tried that, realizing quickly that would take way too much neck adjustment to be practical. I contacted the seller and was asked for pictures. So I sent pictures and videos. They suggested that I take it to a guitar store to have it fixed. Seriously??? I know it’s not uncommon (and maybe necessary) to do some initial “setup” on a new guitar, but this “solution” wasn’t acceptable. I initiated a return for replacement through Amazon (which went fine). Shortly after doing this, the company emailed me offering to send a new guitar, and “you don’t have to return the original”. Well, that would have been nice to offer initially, but Amazon came through anyway. The replacement guitar came, again well packed. There was a bit of fret buzz on the low E string. A quick, easy, 1/4 turn on the neck adjustment and that was remedied and the action was still nicely low. So my thoughts on this (2nd) guitar…it is pretty light, which is nice for handling, but I feel it may be a bit more fragile than a guitar with a little more weight. It does have a solid Sitka spruce top, laminated mahogany sides and back, and mahogany neck and fretboard. So far I’ve played only with the original strings, but I will be changing those. I’ll try the set that comes with them, but not sure I have a lot of confidence in them. The tone, even with the original strings, is pretty decent, impressive even. The playability is surprisingly good, especially for this price point of guitar. The tuning pegs work really quite smoothly…again a nice surprise at this price point. The fit and finish, again, is surprisingly nice. One minor detail that is a bit off is the fret ends…some of them are a bit sharp. They’ll take a little polishing to smooth them, but not terrible. All of the extras that come with this set are a nice bonus. The tuner, capo, strap, picks all are pretty good quality and work well. Also includes a cleaning cloth, Allen wrench (for neck adjustment), a chord chart, string height measuring card, and a stick on pick guard. The pick guard is probably my least favorite “extra”…I just don’t care for the color and shape. I think it would cheapen up the looks. So, while this guitar is not perfect, it is surprisingly good, especially for the price. A nice, easy playing guitar, especially for a beginner, but impressive enough for an oldster like myself, also. ... show more

  • Great quality for the price!
Size: 3/4 Color: Natural
Although I am a musician (viola/violin), I am just now learning to play the guitar. I did not want to spend a lot of money on my first guitar and also did not want a full guitar. This one did not disappoint. I am pleasantly surprised by the rich sound it gives, and the accessories that came with it (guitar case, strap, pick, etc). Good quality! ... show more

  • Plays better than its price!
Size: 3/4 Color: Natural
I have been playing guitar for over 20 years. Recently my daughter has shown interest so I picked this one up thinking it would be a decent instrument to try out but then I would buy something more expensive if she liked it. The instrument sounds and plays well. It holds it's tuning after the strings are broken in (standard with all factory guitars or new strings) The only negative I have is that the included tuner is garbage. Download any tuning app on your phone and you'll have much better results. It might just be the one I received so your results may vary. I don't expect to have to replace it until my daughter grows and needs a full-size guitar. For the price, you can't go wrong with this guitar. ... show more
