The Switch version makes this a portable masterpiece. Super fun game with a great story and lots to do. A mix of the new-age Earthbound vibe with Dodgeball. Fun mechanic, while it does get repetitive a bit, the story makes up for it quickly.

Premise is that you’re a rookie at the dodgeball school and need to beat tournaments to become the best there is at dodgeball. You need to a crew teammates with unique specials, and attributes to help you win Story has an shounen anime-esk sports plot, with the premise I’ve previously mentioned. But there are subplots like robot invasions and mysteries to solve. Writing and dialogue is good especially witty banter between characters, and video game references. Reference range from pokemon (trainer encounters, pokemon center chime at infirmary), Sonic, to Street Fighter amongst others. 8 chapters to play through. Side quests are also available Gameplay is real time face paced dodge ball (not turned based, except for one side quest mini-game). Each team member has a health meter which depleted is knocked out. A match can be over quick ~2-3 mins, having restart matches less frustrating. Single player campaign can last 10-12 hours depending on how good you are. You can also adjust damage and attack ratio in options menu if you want to cheat Up to 3 players in a court at a given time. You only play as one character at a time, swapping between the 3. Characters you don’t play are AI controlled RPG elements: gain level to boost base stat and gain new abilities Able to equip up clothing 2 items which give perks Get food to heal teammates. Some team members have food they like/dislike so amount of healing may vary Some items give you permanent stat boost Get to do the basics like dodge, throw/charge throw, and catch balls coming to you without getting hit Catching dodgeballs will increase your special meter. You can also charge up special meter, but you’ll be standing still and be a sitting duck. Specials range from offensive attacks to buffs Game will change things up a bit, having balls of different status ailments and speed. There are also fixed and random moving environmental obstacles. Also free court in a certain area Able to play local multiplayer. Just 1 v 1. No online play. Unlock characters you get through main campaign (which is the main draw of this game). Local matches are just for practice and to play with friends/family Overall, playing through the story campaign is really fun. The gameplay switching things up often and the characters have really good lines and quarks about them. Highly recommended ... show more
