  • Makes suppressor baffle cleaning a much easier task
Size: 4L Style: PF
The only downside I found for this unit is the extremely small font used in the included "manual"/information sheet making it almost entirely unreadable. Plus I was not able to find recommended minimum/maximum water levels marked on the tank. I downloaded the online general manual for all of these units and found this statement under Safety Precautions: "DO NOT operate the unit without fluid in the tank. Always ensure that the fluid is no higher than the max mark and no lower than the minimum depth of 7cm." My first use of this device for baffle cleaning was fairly successful. Overall, I have been manually scrubbing the removable baffles using CLR (works better than Simple Green) taking quite some time and aggravation to get them very clean. The suppressor (with removable baffles) to be cleaned had 400+ rounds of .22LR, 300BLK subs and 300BLK supers through it and was dirty and carbon fouled. I purchased this unit to hopefully make the cleaning process much easier- and it did do that. I performed an initial cleaning test with two baffles each using a plastic baggie 1/3-full of a soapy water mixture, then 100% Simple Green and finally CLR. CLR has proven to work better for manual carbon cleaning. Using this ultrasonic unit for an initial test of 15 min. each with water temperature at room temperature and using Power Sweep mode- CLR was still a better cleaning option of these three materials. Finally I placed all eight baffles into a 1-quart Zip Lock baggie- 1/2 filled with CLR and placed into the ultrasonic's basket sitting in water filled 3/4 of the way to the top of the tank. After 60 minutes runtime (maximum OEM recommended time) I removed all baffles and scrubbed the remaining carbon from the baffles using a bronze bristled brush. The carbon that was left after the ultrasonic completed its 60 minute cycle was fairly easy to remove, as it has been softened greatly. Next time I might try a 60 minute cycle and then a 30-minute cycle, which I suspect would work even better. I did not find this 4L ultrasonic unit to be very loud with the lid in place or removed while in use in my workshop building, unlike what someone else mentioned in the reviews. ... show more

  • Excellent
Size: 6L Style: PF
I've owned this for a couple of months and it has been a little work horse. Work pony. Suppressors and other parts, like the lathe parts from a machine I'm rebuilding all come out clean if you do not crowd parts in, degas, and use a cleaning solution. 50/50 purple power and RO water in mine, takes 25 min or so to heat from 18c to 55c The temp can rise as much as 5 c over the course of a cleaning. I set for 55 c and it runs about 60. The drain valve is crap, as others have noted, but it does the job and is a standard part. They should spec a decent valve for this $300 unit. The cleanout is an important function, and I'd like to be able to reliably control the nasty crap draining out of my machine. Easy to clean. After I'm done for the day I run a little bit of RO water to flush out drain and hose. This will also put shavings and such in suspension and out of drain so you can wipe the last dregs out. Then spray bottle purple power and wipe the tank clean. I label my jugs and take to haz waste dropoff at county trash facility. ... show more

  • quite an upgrade
Size: 3L Style: PF
ive had a small "home ultrasonic" machine for a couple of years and it was large enough for what i needed to clean... but never did a great job. i decided it was time to upgrade, and bought this. SO MUCH BETTER parts are actually pristine when coming out, and im just using warm water and a drop of dish soap. if i could take off a half star - my only complaint on the machine is the lid. it fits well, but is LOUD with it on as it doesnt physically attach to the machine - just rests on top. so all those vibrations you get to hear through stainless on stainless rattle. its an easy complaint to fix... simply put something heavy on the lid - but its an oversight on their part. outside of that - its spectacular and i would heavily recommend it. ... show more

  • Good USC; crappy drain parts (easily addressed)
Size: 6L Style: PF
Overall, the USC works great. Used it on a dirty BCG, and the amount of carbon that came off was incredible. Recommend using a 50/50 solution of simple green and water, and degassing before starting the cleaning. Did an hour of mixed wave at 52 deg C (~125 deg F). Then removed the parts ans set them on a paper towel to drain/dry; the heat makes all the fluid set off, and you will need to re-oil the parts, especially the extractor. When the solution was all cooled off, I drained the solution into an empty container filtering it through a coffee filter. The solution can then be used again...don’t know how many times, but I’m guessing a few BCG’s worth. Why the 4 stars instead of 5, you ask? Because the thread on the brass part that needs to be screwed into the drain ball valve was messed up and I had to file it and straighten it so it would actually thread in. Also, the hose clamp for the included hose was typical CC (Chinese Crap), and the hose leaked. Had to buy a better hose clamp at Harbor Freight and tighten it well and the problem was solved. Other than that, we’ll see how long it lasts. It does wit well and albeit the issue encountered with the drain parts, it does represent good value. ... show more

  • May Not Need the Larger One
Size: 3L Style: PF
I bought this to clean my bike chains prior to waxing them with Silca drip wax. The recommendation was to get the 6 litter one but this 3 litter is more convenient to store and takes less water and, therefore less cleaning chemical. It easily holds three bike chains at one time if one needs that. Its heating element is slower, less powerful, but I get around that by boiling or microwaving the water before I put it in the reservoir. Quick an effective. The degassing setting works in 6 minutes or less. I find that degreased chains come out spotless in 15 minutes. See Silca for videos with their recommendations for the process. ... show more

  • Great cleaner
Size: 6L Style: PF
I had purchased a tiny dksonic cleaner for my wife's jewelry. I was so impressed I wanted to get a larger unit to clean gun parts and so forth. This cleaner is great. The heater gets really really hot. I'm also glad I didn't go larger. The bigger you go the more fluid you need. This one is a great size for me. ... show more
