  • Fun, powerful, well-built
I am 6'3" 240 pounds and have a three mile commute to work in New York City. The bike has no issues zipping me through my communte at 25 miles an hour max, and gets me anywhere from 20-30 miles per charge. This ebike is incredibly fast, has a nice long charge and is very well built. I completely recommend this bike to anyone who is into ebikes and regular biking in general. Thus far, I have already put over 200 miles on it. Here are a couple considerations for the next customer: I live in a 4 story walk-up with no elevator. This bike is far too large for such a lifestyle. Luckily for me, I am strong enough to lift the 60 pound bike up and down my narrow staircase daily. However, my girlfriend would never be able to do that even though she is a strong, athletic woman. If you live in an elevator building, or have a safe ground-level place to keep the bike, you won't have to worry about this at all. The assembly was very easy and the bike comes with a nice multi-tool to get the job done. The manual could be more descriptive, but I was able to assemble this bike in about an hour by myself. I am no bike professional. The folding mechanism on my bike is actually pretty difficult. To fold the handlebar down, is quick and easy and I do it regularly to carry it up the stairs. However, folding the bike in half is very difficult. There is a great deal of resistance at first. When folding, the bike takes up a much smaller footprint. However, it is still too heavy to practically carry while folded. I assumed that foldable bikes are more manageable to carry, but here that isn't the case. The idea for folding this bike is to quickly and easily put it in the trunk of a car. I do not own a car, so the foldable aspect doesn't do much for me. Simple solution: don't fold the bike. The amenities and characteristics of this bike are excellent. The fat tires eat up any terrain I ride on (bumps in bike lane, up and down curbs, on grass to run with my dog at the park). The ride is incredibly smooth and suspension can be easily adjusted. There is a night light which is super bright which makes me feel safe that I will be seen in the dark. As others have mentioned, the seat is uncomfortable. I don't think it would have been too bad, but the seatpost is 3-4 inches too short for me. A taller one will come in the mail soon. As a normal bike, the ride is smooth on flat surfaces. Due to the weight of the bike, it is hard to ride up hill on your own. When I want some cardio, I turn the pedal assist off. On flat surfaces, I can get to 15 miles an hour pretty effortlessly. Uphill, I have to put it in a low gear to move much at all. Downhill, it can reach 25-30 miles an hour but road bikes pass me on downhill bike rides due to the drag of the ebike. I reached out to DJ Ebikes with some general questions and advice for small tweeks. Daniel, the owner of the company, responded each time within a day. They offered to pay for the first tune up to make sure the brakes and gears are aligned properly after set up. He also found dimensions for the seatpost for me. Overall, my experience with this bike has been excellent! It is durable, powerful, fun and looks amazing. People are always staring at it on the street. The only true downside is the weight and size of the bike for a daily commuter like myself. As far as ebikes go, I don't know if there are many lightweight options that are also really fast and reliable. I 100% recommend. ... show more

  • Above avg Quality - reasonble cost Bike / Great Customer Service
A bit skeptical to begin with since this is small company and relatively new product. I liked the features and options better than RadMini. Wanted folding bike for flexibility. Shipping and assembly experience was good. Only minor assembly needed, pedals, rack, handlebar and wheel placement, good instructions. I fully assembled in 20 minutes with tools included ready to ride. Overall feel - bike is heavy duty, well built and seems to be quite high quality - well designed and made. I am 240lbs and needed heavy duty quality for combo paved and unpaved riding. It is lots of fun and easier on my older body - makes me want to get out and enjoy riding again. Frame is very beefy and power with 750w motor (USA only) is strong. Battery life goes quickly with higher speed throttle usage. Pedal assist is good and I found I moderately pedaled consistently and keep the speed down to 13-18mph I can get 50 miles or more. Customer service - Daniel Yang is the owner of DJ Bikes and he takes all customer service communications directly. My sense is he really wants the customer to be happy with DJ Bikes. I had a significant and unusual problem with the front steering stem after about 10 hours of riding. He worked with me quite hard to get it resolved. I think it issue truly was an anomaly as the overall quality is quite good. He could not find determine the cause and it could not be fixed so end resolution was he sent me a brand new bike as replacement. WOW that is great customer service. New bike is great - no similar steering stem issues. I applaud Daniel and DJ Bikes for being quality and customer focused. Great to find a quality company to work with. This is the way customer service should work - work to get it right, if can not fix replace it with new. Perfect resolution. ... show more

  • Everything I wanted plus more
I preface this by saying that this is my first ebike purchase and i have spent many hours comparing other ebike options on amazon. I hope this review is helpful for others as well. Shipping - 5 stars ============== Item was all packed very neatly and secured. Assembly - 5 stars ============== Very simple to assemble and did not need any instructions. Only needed to attach pedals, seat, handle bars, front tire and front rack. Battery was also partially charged. Tires needed to be inflated and reccomened value is 20 -25 psi which is perfect. Item is very solid and well made. Ride quality 5 ============= One of the reasons i choose DJ. Bikes was the front suspension plus fat tires and suspension based seats. The bike eats potholes and bumps for breakfast. It is a joy to go off road in the park to street pavement. I weight 260lbs and the bike had no issue taking me up hills. The motor is very powerful. I cant comment on range as of yet but will update my review accordingly. Range (updated 8/29/18) ============== I decided to make range a separate item as it involves many factors. My current commute is 28 miles round rip (14 oneway) and involves multiple hills between with some flat land included. I average 15mph with a max speed of 30 to 37 on some downhills. On a full battery using PAS 1-3, throttle to take off from a stop light and throttle to pass other bikers netted me 3 bar left when i got home. Removing the racks and traveling light would also increase the range. Overall i am impressed. Battery care ============== Best method would be to charge it to 80 percent daily after each use and not to drain the battery completly, as this can cause long term damage. Highly reccomend getting a multimeter and wifi smart plug to assist with that setup. Other Thoughts =============== One of the biggest reasons i choose DJbikes was the customer service and communication. I previosly ordered from another seller on amazon, but cancelled due to lack of warranty information and horror stories of customers being stranded when things go wrong. With DJ bikes i have gotten fast responses. You also get a 1 year warranty. A big selling factor to me as well is that all the parts lcd, controller and battery are avaliable on their website. This a huge plus and will contribute to the longevity of the bike as well and gives better piece of mind of purchase. The bike also has a powerful 750 watt motor (accelartion) with powerful battery 48volts (think huge horsepower) With 13amps(think huge gas tank). Having a folding ebike is a huge positive especially for apartments small on space. But this ebike is heavy, even for me. The rear is bottom heavy due to the big motor, rear rack and battery. Ideally i would like the battery in the frame to help balance things. However, having the battery in the rear makes it easy to remove, replace and charge the battery. On a final note this is a fat tire bike. It will take more effort to pedal it which will a small effect on range compared to standard tire sizes. However, it is much durable and allow you acess greater terrain. I have gone over broken glass bottles, wreckage from a car accident, potholes and sharps rocks and gravel in a park trail, and stairs with ease. I rather have that flexibily instead for everyday life!!! My only gripe is at this price they should have at least included push in foldable pedals. Its also a good idea to check and retighten screws weekly as they can come loose. A screw came loose for my kickstand and am still awaiting a replacement from the seller a week later. ... show more
