Neodymium magnets are fragile in any form. They arrived in perfect shape, no chips, no cracks. SLIDE them apart don't pry them apart. I didn't have any issues. After playing with them and do my experiments minor chipping of the edges had occurred, which was to be expected. They are tiny but very strong, and can be hazardous in children's hands. When counting them out I would count one, set it on the desk and as I slid the next one off the stack to count it the one (or ones) I had already counted would fly up or shoot off the desk, depending on which way the newly counted one was held, and that was at 12 to 15 inches away from each other! They are very strong little magnets. I set the entire stack on my desk top about 18 inches from my computer monitor and noticed a dis-coloration to a portion of my screen, and that is a shielded HD monitor. The coloration went away just as soon as I moved the stack of magnets. No damgae done but be wary! Did I mention? These are TINY LITTLE MAGNETS and ARE VERY STRONG! I have a bunch of trophy plaques I wanted to display on my garage cabinets, so I bought these magnets to glue on the backs. I have some Master Magnetics items from Home Depot, but they would be quite expensive in the quantity I needed. They have nearly 5 lbs of pull each, so I thought I was pretty safe getting these smaller magnets given that the trophies are only about a pound each. These magnets have no grip. They stick well to each other, but four of them won't hold up a 4x6" wood plaque. Don't understand all the positive reviews. I should have noticed that the manufacturer didn't provide the amount of holding force. I'm guessing just an ounce or two each. ... show more

These are great magnets! Easily strong enough for any job I've had yet. When I first bought them I was very skeptical, because they are made to look like neodymium or "rare earth" magnets but they are NOT--the product description clearly says ferrite--but they are just as powerful as any magnet I've ever used! These are not your standard, weak, black refrigerator magnets. They may not be neodymium but they seem just as powerful to me! Good price and many magnets for many purposes! ... show more

Within opening the package, i followed everyone's heeded warning... "Slide it apart, don't pull apart" Already, out the box there was chipped and broken magnets, along with the nickel covering coming apart. magnets are absolutely horrid in not only build quality, but they BARELY MAGNETIZE. Sure, adding on about 30 magnets in a pack makes them strong, but a single 2 discs couldnt even keep my photos up on the fridge! Definitely deserving of it's 1* marks... I seriously don't know how this product gets such rave reviews! ... show more

These are stronger and thinner than other magnets I had been using. I'd say they're the thickness of a nickle or two coins stacked. You'll need to be very careful around small children because they are so small and thin, they are definitely easy to swallow and lose. However, they work better than anything else I tried. We are using them to hold up fabric and medium weight curtains on metal shelving to hide what is behind them. They work very well for that. So well in fact that we cannot glue them straight to the fabric, they tend to pull off so we are going to create a little fabric pouch by folding it over to contain them. ... show more

These magnets are great for crafts where you don't want those thick, cheap magnets from the crafts stores. They are very thin, but VERY strong. Please be careful with them - I actually pinched my skin with them, and it was not pleasant. They are nice quality, but they WILL break if you accidentally smash any together too hard, so be careful.
