  • This book had what I was looking for.
Finally a solar book that is user friendly. All the others I have read have been just book knowledge which has not helped in my setup. This book actually walks me through step by step….on how to use a multimeter or how to combine different solar panel types. This is a great resource for me. Thank you Debasish Dutta. ... show more

  • Feels a bit slapped-together, low on info
There is some decent info in this book, but it is very sparse. A lot of the book explains very basic concepts of electricity or simple tools everyone has. The book was clearly copied from blog posts or a website with little editing - for example, there are hyperlinks with no URLs provided in the printed edition (obviously not clickable) or color graphs printed in black and white, where the lines can't be distinguished as they end up identical shades of gray. This feels like an OK starting point but not enough. ... show more

  • A book for Everyone — if you’re an electrical engineer
I was very excited about this book before it arrived. I’ve read a lot on adding solar panels to our home, and thought that this would give me even more information before I open my purse and purchase a system. Nope. I read the book twice, trying to understand the author’s descriptions, and got exactly nowhere. By reading, I read each word, as they were written in the book, but I comprehended almost nothing. I finished a lot more confused than when I started, and am re-thinking the idea of solar at all. If I have to know all this stuff to make a solar system work, then forget it. I am not an engineer, and although I am pretty computer and math literate, I couldn’t get anywhere with this. This is definitely NOT a book for everyone. ... show more
