  • Looks great, fun project
For the price they're selling for on Amazon, these are a good deal. The same exact models are for sale elsewhere for WAY MORE. I actually found these on an external page, and when I looked at reviews, I found tips pointing me to Amazon. It really does look great when it's fully assembled. The pieces are quite well made. It does take a few hours to fully assemble. I would estimate it took me 10-11 hours in total. Looks great lit up in a dark room. Not exactly sure what the sensor on the front is supposed to do, it doesn't seem to be affected by light or movement. A few tips: Use the sandpaper to smooth down the nibs left over when popping out parts, especially on sides that need to be glued. The flatter/smoother, the better. Be generous with the glue. If you use good crafting glue that turns clear when it dries, you can and should use good beads of glue to hold everything together. I used way more glue than I thought, but no where near a whole bottle. Be very careful popping the pieces out. The smaller pieces can break if you're not careful, and you can create slight "tears" in the wood where the nibs hold the pieces in. Take your time. There are a LOT of steps, and the first steps (books) are very repetitive and boring, but the final product is worth it. When you start to assemble the bookshelves, it just looks SO cool. And thre are a TON of details, lot of art, paintings, shelve art, books, etc. It just looks great. If you have some smaller wood clamps, they can be vey useful. I used mine a few times to hold pieces together tight while the glue dried. And I think they were a GREAT HELP on the outside parts. ... show more

  • Broken movement sensor. All LEDs go through the SAME hole
The movement sensor for the light is broken and makes the light strobe. I'll probably have to solder it so that it doesn't do that. Otherwise great value, mostly clear instructions, quality pieces. Making the books was tedious, but it looks nice. I recommend not gluing down all of the furniture and the books. It's unclear in the instructions, but all of the LEDs go through the back left hole against the two walls. I kept thinking they were supposed to go somewhere else so I had to glue and unglue the walls like 3 times to fix it ... show more

  • Loved it so much - fine for a beginner
The media could not be loaded. This was my wife's first book nook ever! She was so afraid of it being too intricate for it being her first one, but it was really straightforward and easy to assemble. It took her about a week of working on it every night for a few hours. Everyone loves it now that it's finished and loves the detailing. It has now become her new hobby lol 🤪 Getting the lighting wires to go where they belong, she would say, was the hardest part. The books can be quite tedious, or really anything involving paper cutting. Buy super tiny but sharp scissors! It did not come with glue, she bought Aileen's clear gel tacky glue. Worked pretty well. She also purchased a tool kit separately, and the things she found useful from it were the box cutter, tweezers, and filer. You will definitely need to sand each piece down but don't do it too much, or it will lose its color and not match the rest of the piece. Use the glue excessively instead of sparingly. The only con is that the light turns off after about 15-20 seconds, and she can't figure out how to get it back on. It's supposed to be motion-detected, but this is likely a user error on our part. Also, the little button in the front looks a bit incomplete. ... show more

  • A great gift for a crafty daughter
My daughter loves to craft. She picked out this adorable miniature library and then spent a few hours happily constructing it. The fine details are so cute. The motion sensor activated light is charming because it lights up the library every time someone walks by that shelf. This is a great gift for someone who enjoys making things and delighting in their completion afterwards. ... show more

  • My sensor is broken. The lights just flash ON, then OFF, then ON, then OFF...
UNFORTUNATELY, my sensor is broken. The lights just flash ON, then OFF, then ON, then OFF at seemingly random intervals. It won't come on when I want it to, and when someone is admiring the details, it turns off for NO REASON (very annoying!!) Fortunately, the battery pack holder has an on/off switch, and my husband was able to bypass the sensor and simply "hard wire" the LED lights directly to the battery. Overall it's an okay puzzle/model. The instructions aren't the best, but better than nothing. I did not mind wrapping and gluing covers on the wooden books. Except for the one open book that's displayed on the reading table, there was really NO reason for anyone to go through the trouble of fan-folding books because ALL BUT ONE are displayed as CLOSED books. Because the pages are not needed to be opened, the additional fan-fold books could have just as easily been a wooden book with a wrapped/glued cover. That was a waste of time!! It's definitely not for beginners. But it does start off easy with removing the easiest pieces from the boards. This allows people to hone-their-skills and learn the technique before moving on to the smaller or more delicate pieces. --- It's all plywood, not MDF... so that's good. However, the MDF book-nooks that I've purchased and assembled have had a better "click" feel when putting the pieces together. These fit quite loosely and almost every piece needs to be glued. ... show more

  • SOOO FUN!!!
I Had such a fun time assembling this with my sister. At first we were a little intimidated by the amount of parts and steps, but we managed & it was actually fun! When we got lost in some step, the instructions led us to a video tutorial that was helpful (although in Chinese). All in all, the entire process took a little under 8 hours. The wood parts were well-made. The details placed into this little house were wonderful. Placed it in my bookshelf in between books and it looked really cute! Excellent & fun project!! ... show more
