Besides cars, de- ionized water is perfect for washing and SPOT-FREE rinsing of your RV, boat, golf cart, motorcycle, and house windows, too! De-ionized water is the secret sauce that detailers, car washes, and window cleaners have used for decades. CR Spotless was the first to make the same technology available to homeowners in an affordable, compact, and portable system. The DIW-20 comes complete with 2 20 inch wall mounted cartridges containing a mixed bed of de-ionizing resin that will produce approximately 200 gallons of mineral-free water based on an average TDS level of 200 ppm. Depending on the quality of the water where you live, you can get between 75 and 1000 gallons of deionized water from one resin cartridge. All CR Spotless Water Systems also include a battery operated TDS meter that will measure the quality of the water coming out of the system. This is a fantastic product, if you're not as stupid as I was. If A few weeks ago while washing my car, I was too slow when drying my metallic black BMW 650i, and I ended up with some water spots on a small area at the rear of the car. Those spots turned out to be so impervious to any spot remover, that I eventually had to have a detailer buff them out of the paint, which of course removed the expensive Ceramic Pro coating I had. Before I reached that point, I decided that what happened to me, would probably happen again if I continued using hard water. After some research, the solution was clear. I needed a CR Spotless deionizer. I received mine on time, and couldn't wait to try it out. Assembly was a snap, with little to put together, and very clear instructions. Within 20 minutes, I was hooking the nice stainless steel clad supply line, up to my very hard household water supply, and connecting my water hose to the output side of the unit. I attached the supplied spray nozzle, and immediately began washing my slightly spotted car. After the final rinse was finished, I proudly strolled into my house, confident that I would return to an air dried car with no additional spots. To my horror, the entire car was covered in water spots. I contacted customer service at CR Spotless to find out what they had done wrong. I have to say, John, and the rest of the staff, handle things promptly, with courtesy, and a knowledge that gets things solved quickly. You see, if you take mineral filled, hard water, and put it through their DIC 20 System, the water will reach the output fitting mineral free. This is the important part of my review, and my main purpose for writing one. DON'T USE AN OLD HOSE ON THIS UNIT! The 10 year old garden hose I attached to the outlet, was so contaminated with minerals, that the deionized water dissolved many of them on its way through the hose, and then redeposited the minerals on my black car. These spots we're so tenacious that I eventually had to have them buffed off, and my expensive ceramic coating reapplied. Switching to a new hose, dedicated to this unit totally solved the problem of spots. Now I can rinse the car and walk away with no towel drying. When I come back, the car is beautiful! Don't hesitate to buy this deionizing system, just don't use it until you get yourself a new water hose! It should be common sense, but I didn't think of it, so I hope this review keeps someone else from making the same expensive mistake I did. ... show more

This system is a game changer for my car washes. Where I live there is *very* hard water. So that means if I walk away from the car for a second or *any* water dries I have really bad water spots. If you're shopping for this, you're probably like me and you like having a car without water spots. It's also nice to be able to take my time washing the car, and not have to waste extra water constantly wetting down the car. Some things to note about the DI-120. For the filter to work optimally you have to use a nozzle that is <= 2 gallons per minute (GPM) in flow rate. The filter comes with a small cheap nozzle supplied that you can run in either "Flat" or "Center." I however had planned to use this product with the Chemical Guys Foam Blaster 6. The FB6 doesn't come with any indication of water flow rate. At first I was googling around, but then remembered basic science and math. If you want to measure a particular nozzle's flow rate do the following. Mark off 2 gallons in your 5 gallon bucket. I did this by using the fact that 1 gallon = 16 cups. In my kitchen we have a 4 cup glass measuring cup. I just filled that up 8 times to fill my bucket with 2 gallons. I then used some duct tape to mark the water line at 2 gallons in my bucket. Some buckets might have lines, so then you wouldn't need to do this. Then I took my Foam Blaster 6, ran it fully open while timing it. Noted the time then do the following calculation flow rate = <gallons> / <time in minutes> to get the flow rate. This will work with any nozzle. So I finally hooked the product up to my hose which was easy. It comes fully assembled in the box. The directions are very clear. The water pressure out of the filter is great, the water coming out IS TOTALLY FILTERED. I literally had 0 water spots. I have to say the product is very sturdy, and well built. If you're on the fence about this, and like having spot free washes just buy the filter. It's worth it. One disclaimer is that I've used it only once, so I don't know how often I need to replace the resin in the filter cartridge. So that could change my opinion once I understand the overall running cost. ... show more
